Here’s an odd one I cannot understand. Very possibly it is user error but here goes…

I am at home in the middle of England. I opened up and displayed a route in northern France and touched Navigate.

The app generated me a route from home in England to the start of the route in France very quickly.

There was though one significant problem with the route. The app had routed me along a long section of main road, which it knows to be closed.

When I tap on the red icons, I get the message that there is a route violation and that no alternative can be found:

That is what I cannot understand.

    1. Why does the app route me along a road of its choosing, when it knows the road to be shut?

    2. From the middle of England, there must be 10’s if not more alternative ways to get to Folkestone to catch the Eurotunnel. Why then is there a message saying that no other alternative can be found?

    3. There are several very obvious alternatives to miss out the closed section. Why doesn’t the app use them?

    Thank you.

    Richard

Can you share the route, so we can try it? (removing any personal waypoints/home/etc or course)

Here is an odd thing connected to the route shown in post one.

In the opening post, the route I wanted to ride around is in France, with point 1 being at the start of the route in France. I asked the app to navigate me from the middle of England to point 1, whereupon it routed me down the road in England that it knew to be closed and no alternative routing available.

If though I asked the app to skip point 1 in France and go to point 2 in France, it did recalculate and miss the closed section out. Here is a screenshot:

        IMG_0027.png

        The three obvious questions are:

        1. Why does the app generate a route along a significant stretch of major road that it knows to be closed?

        2. Why, when the app alerts me that there is a route violation ie. the closed route, can the app not offer an alternative?

        3. Why, by skipping the point 1 start point in France and heading instead to what was point 2 in France, does the app then offer up a route to miss out the closed road section? Why not do it in the first place?

Thanks for any help or comments, to hopefully help me understand the problem.
