I have just returned from a motorcycle trip to Devon and Wales after I had meticulously planned a dozen trips in those areas.
In terms of userfriendliness, the MyRoute website itself is a charm. I do not think there is a better one out there and I have used many of them to date.
As to the app, the story is somewhat different. I have come across the following annoying mishaps:

    • lag: very annoying the app location does not reflect the real location. Frankly, one cannot trust the audio alone, especially when (complex) turns are imminent. Running an other GPS app in the background, which I read as an option, seems odd and does not really add confidence to your own application, does it ?
    • roundabouts: the same problem as mentioned many times, i.e. the wrong exit is given
    • missing route points: the app constantly mentions 'missed route points' and suggest to turn back even though I put them exactly where they should be (zoomed in) and have driven them correctly.
    • audio does not always work or only gives half of the message, even though my route points are not close to crossings or turns.
    • unable to calculate route: encountered multiple times
    • app shuts down without any reason: encountered multiple times

These issues, for me, are a real bummer. When riding a motorcycle, you need 100% confidence and cannot start fiddling with an app as easily as one might do in a car (gloves, road position, weather, etc. ...).

To be honest, I had imported all my MRA-routes in the TomTom app as a back-up solution. They all worked perfectly. And I could have done the same with the Kurviger app or Calimoto. Never had any problem with those.
Whether I will renew my gold subscription will depend on when and how all of the issues above will be fixed or not.

I am using a new Samsung smartphone.

I personally don't have any trouble with it. Seems to be quite an individual thing!

roundabouts: the same problem as mentioned many times, i.e. the wrong exit is given

Due to a bug in the Here-data. If you use Car as travelmode it seems to be OK.

missing route points: the app constantly mentions 'missed route points' and suggest to turn back even though I put them exactly where they should be (zoomed in) and have driven them correctly.

A new release will be available to everyone soon. In it, skipping aggression at waypoints will be a thing of the past.

audio does not always work or only gives half of the message, even though my route points are not close to crossings or turns.

Could be an issue due to settings in your headset? I use a Sena 30K with no problems whatsoever.

unable to calculate route: encountered multiple times

In what area(s)? How do you navigate, online/offline? Maps and routes availible offline?

app shuts down without any reason: encountered multiple times

The latest betaversion is much more stable! Just wait for the next release.

Well, nobody has stated that this is accepted at all, "running the additional Gps app" is only a temporary fix for the time being until HERE has figured out how to solve it. I can personally confirm that this is on the top priority list of HERE and they're on it as we speak.

Please dont make any bold statements like this anymore before asking about any background on things.

Is it possible you use the profile "Motor"?
Some of the thing you mentioned seems to be connected to the profile "Motor". Profile "Car" does a better job. Don't know why but it does.

The stability is also one of my complains. Other navigation software are more stable, predictable in it's functioning.

@wim-beauprez I forgot to mention the following:
TomTom Go app did the job easily, it has a wonderful, relaxing layout too. Only thing is the lack of displaying waypoints with TomTom and I cannot import the GPX (exported from MRA as 1.1 tracks & POI) directly into that app. Sync is required via plan.tomtom. Importing via BMW connected app or Garmin Drive is seamless.

@M-Schrijver I remember when Tomtom go was originally released. I really liked it, until they broke the ability to navigate routes planed on their web site planner. At that time I started looking for another app. After trying many apps, a friend told me about MRA. I hope MRA can get the reliability and stability up to the same level as MRA Navigation was. MyRoute-app is still very much in development mode. The issues with HERE don't help either.

With routes you mean routes with visible waypoints?
Yes, TomTom Go can't do that. That is a bummer. But the rock solid stability evens out that bummer very easily.
TomTom Go can only handle track based routes which you can stil make on TomTom's website.

"A bummer" is the understatement of the century 😉

It depends what it's important for someone.
For me is a stable, reliable platform the most important. Other functions comes second. TomTom Go serves the first nearly perfect. MRA Next not (yet)
For routes which i ride private. Waypoints has no use at all.

A navigation for me is a device or software which guides me to ride a pre-planned route. Nothing more, nothing less. As you can see. In this context waypoints are not necessary
