Navigation and Andoid Auto
-
Having spent a month updating SYNC3 on my Ford I finally could try MRA using Android Auto today.
A simple set destination with no waypoints. All worked fine but there seemed to be a couple of quirks to the car display with Android Auto.
The upcoming road and upcoming instruction box was not updating - although the correct location was shown on the map and the voice instructions were correct.
The actual speed only showed 5 to 15, even when I was doing 70mph on a motorway, or sitting stationary in a layby.
I was using navigation in offline mode.I could not see what was displayed on my phone as i don't have a cradle to hold it in my car.
I do have a screen shot - happy to show the MRA team, but not public display. -
Mine is hit and miss at times too. Same problem as you've described above. The App on it's own is perfect, just when I connect it to the car.

How do you go from routes to navigate on the new system ... normally use it on my i phone, this is android, am I being dense as it's about to go out the window!!!
-
@simon-Watson did you install the new navigation app - MyRoute-app from the Play Store? I don't like to be rude but if you can't get basic navigation going you really need to review the user manual or watch some of the training videos. Really best to do both. you will be much happier once you learn the basics.
-
@simon-Watson, I think you will need to explain in a little more detail. Preferably with some screenshots of what exactly goes wrong. Maybe in a separate thread, because it does not sound like an Android Auto problem if you use an iPhone...

@Con-Hennekens Hi
I am using a Samsung S20, and Andoid Auto on Ford SYNC3. I think all software is up to date. Location permission is set to "all the time", and i have just noticed that precise location is turned off. Navigation is set to offline.
In the attached screen shot I am parked in a layby near my destination.
The blue boxes on the top left all refer to a road and junction about a mile before this - they do occassionally update. The blue circle on the left shows the incorrect speed.
The track and my location on it were accurate and the voice instructions correct.
Anything else you would like please let me know

@Tony-13, Does it do this consequently? I think I have seen one or two earlier questions about this behaviour. Which version is the app, is it updated? Maybe the best way in this case is open a support ticket at https://www.myrouteapp.com/support
This is too specific for me to be able to help you. But maybe there are others with earlier experiences like this.

@Con-Hennekens I have the same problem as Tony 13 and opened a trouble ticket. I was using version 4.1.0 when I had the problem. I'm going out for a test ride today to see if the problem still exists with ver 4.1.1.

@Peter-Schiefer, that's not the same. @Tony has the speedindicator on 6, while driving 70...

@Peter-Schiefer, yes, but also in to OT:

Thanks for the comments. I will raise a ticket, although important to note the routing and directions spoken remained accurate at all times.
I can form the indicated speed hardly changed whether I was stationary or doing 70 mph. It is quite possible the speed shown when stationary is due to a different issue than when moving

@Peter-Schiefer I have the same problem with Android. If roundabouts are on route then the info box continues to try and update but to no avail until all roundabouts have been passed. On the odd occasion when the info box shows directions it is usually wrong with wrong junction and road name. The map shows correct position and audio directions are correct also. It's just the info box not working.

As mentioned to Tony is this Problem visible on the phone or on the AA Screen or on both?It is a simple route cause finding question.
me myself I cannot dive deepe in Android and the variabilty of Android on all the phones.May you think IOS is too expensive, too limited, but the advantage, alle phones have the same software not branded to a chinese, korean, japanese Brand of smartphones.
This has literally nothing to do with the brand of phone. Get that noise out of here. A lot of Android devices costs the same as iOS devices.
This issue has been ongoing sync MRA released Android Auto capability, but it's likely only limited to FORD SYNC 3 and has nothing to do with what make/model of phone one is on.

@Tony-13 - I have the same issue in my 2020 Ford Focus (Sync 3) using a Samsung S20FE connected to the Android Auto via a USB cable.
I have tried everything, the sync 3 and phone are all up to date.
