I read that to navigate offline with only GPS signal, I must download the maps and also need to download the route. AND you need to enable offline navigation in the navigation settings too. Question is WHY download the MAP AND the ROUTE? When would you just download the route? If you were on a 5 hour ride and just 20 minutes of that you did not have coverage, would you still enable offline settings?
I'm trying to understand the relationship with downloading (state) map vs/and route.

@Ken-Anderson-0, Downloading maps is a one time task. you simple NEED to have offline maps to be able to navigate offline. For that 5 hour ride with 20 minutes of no coverage, you don't need to enable offline navigating perse. The app wil turn to temporary offline use once it is needed. Most people just download offline maps to reduce the data bandwidth during riding, since offline maps will be used when available, even during online navigation.

@Ken-Anderson-0 I just find that offline operation results in more trouble free navigation.

          1. Download maps for the areas being traveled. I do this at the start of the riding season or before an extended trip
          2. Download your route(s) to the download folder
          3. Enable the offline navigation option
          4. Start your routes from the download folder.

Note: real-time traffic monitoring is not available and I've recently discovered that the next fuel station function also does not work. If you need either of these you can always enable online operation.
