Subscription system for POI libraries
-
I am stealing @Lex-Kloet-RX his list of waypoint libraries:
( I hope you don't mind Lex! )This inspired me to the following:
Anyone who maintains a list of POIs can make them public through the MRA website. This might look like making your routes available for anyone or just friends. This will make available a list of all publicly available POI libraries.
In this list a user can choose whatever library he wants to use, just by placing a checkmark. All maintenance done on a list by the owner, will reflect immediately to all the subscribed users.
This might look a bit like the wordpress plugin system. Select the POI libraries you like or are relevant for you, "install" them, and they are added to your planner.

Good idea. I have several nice lists that I can share. But making it "Public" also requires a search function (adjustment).
Technically relatively easy to achieve with, for example, "Google Search Engine". I have no idea which search engine runs on Routelab. -
@Jack-van-Tilburg, I am not sure I understand. Is there already a search available from within the MRA system, to search for public POI libraries? I am unaware of that.

@Con-Hennekens
There is a search engine but it has a limited reach (currently).
Sorry for the confusion. I'm making a small adjustment to my answer above. -
@Jack-van-Tilburg, Yes it would be great to be able to search for those libraries through the Routelab search option indeed. Most appealing for me would be to be able to select libraries in a (searchable) list, and not needing to re-import but automatically be kept on par with the one who maintains the list.
Following this method we could even think a bit further:
- public contributions to a library (moderated by the owner)
- some kind of donation system for the owner of a list
Just thinking aloud

@Con-Hennekens if I would have great secrets in it, I wouldn't have posted it, so "go your gang"
