New Beta! (v4.0.5)
-
Ladies and gentlemen! We are back
A month after our last Beta update, it's time for a new one.
Yes, it has been a slightly longer wait than we anticipated but it's gonna be a nice one! Delay was caused due to some development issues / obstacles, illness and vacation. The 4.0.5 beta will become available later this week - before the weekend.
This update does however contain so much new features and improvements that by time you are halfway reading this post, you've already forgotten the time you had to wait
CarPlay & Android Auto improvements
As promised, we would keep working on the CP / AA module.
We've done that!We now show:
- Speedlimit
- Current speed
- Lane assistance
- Camera / Truck warnings
From CP / AA you can now also:
- Change route avoid options
- Search for stops along your route
- Skip waypoints
Amazing right? With this update we believe that CarPlay & Android Auto finally get the level it deserves.
Nearby fuel stops
The app will actively suggest an efficient nearby fuel stop on your route - from MRA with This is displayed instead of the next instruction and we've increased the size of this element
Tapping the icon will add the fuel stop to your route, keeping your original route as intended. If you want to turn this off, you can do so from the functional settings.
Note: skipping extra stops, will not skip them but totally remove them from your route. Keeping your original waypoint count as planned.
Search for stop while navigating
Besides the nearby fuel suggestions, you can also search yourself!
Exactly the same search functionality as you are used to is available while navigating. Simply open the menu and search for a stopAs with nearby fuel stops, the search results are added efficiently along your route.
Note: skipping extra stops, will not skip them but totally remove them from your route. Keeping your original waypoint count as planned.
Custom tilt level
Do you prefer more horizon? Of less?
A discussion of the past! You can now choose your own tilt level from the map configuration settings.Fixed issues
- Motorhome not allowed to use highway when avoiding toll
- Better position accuracy on (older, mostly Android) devices
- Logic to when detailed lane assist should kick in
- CarPlay showing multiple position indicators after switching between apps
- CarPlay iconsize next maneuver very small
- GPX files not opening with the app
- Incorrect distances shown to the next maneuver
- General stability improvements
Minor features
- CP / AA: Now includes translations, respecting your language preference
- New icons for speed warnings
- Increased size of next maneuver widget
- Preparation for Carpe Iter support (only available to their development team)
- Navigations can be resumed using BT controllers / input devices
- Previous camera tracking mode is respected when refocussing the camera (in short: compass tap behavior )
- Newest HERE SDK (4.15.5)
Known issues in this Beta
- Offline maps update might not be available (contacted HERE)
- Battery usage (ongoing issue with HERE)
- Roundabouts sometimes show incorrect exit direction
- Other common minor issues shared in the past weeks / month
We are looking forward to all your feedback!
Thanks so much for your continuing participation in the Beta program.
Cheers,
Corjan -
Great new update, with so many improvements!
-
@Corjan-Meijerink hugely impressed with this feature packed release! Wow!
-
@Corjan-Meijerink thnkx for the update. Looks great
Question. Does CP / AA still requireS thé app beeing opened on your phone before using thé app on CP / AA -
@Corjan-Meijerink well done . Nice job

Increased size of next maneuver widget
It may be a 'minor' issue but it's pretty vital for several of us!
Top marks, Corjan! You're on
-
@Marinus-van-Deudekom No that should not be required!
But it does seem to help the overall stability -
@Bart-DM @Con-Hennekens @Marinus-van-Deudekom @Stefan-Hummelink Thanks so much
@richtea999 hahah, we do try to keep a high pace and deliver great quality. User demands are pretty intense. So many feature requests, minor changes and complex stability issues. Balancing our limited development time and 2 developer team resources is hard. Gotta keep the fire burning
@Theo-Lammerts Heel fijn om te horen! Dank voor de complimenten Waar dat aan zou kunnen liggen is vrij lastig helaas.
-
@Corjan-Meijerink great because up till now it’s mandatory
-
Rock on Tiger!
Awesome update. -
@Corjan-Meijerink wauw that's a lot! super, very eager to test it coming weekend Thanks!
-
wow. Brilliant work @Corjan-Meijerink and team. So looking forward to trying this update. More than I expected. Well done.
-
Great job team
-
@Corjan-Meijerink : Herzlichen Dank für die weiteren Neuerungen und Verbesserung.
Freue mich aufs Update 4.0.5

Another update and the bug with voice instructions remains! We pay a (not cheap!) lifetime license and update after update, you keep not fixing this and not answering here! Incredible!
-
@Francisco-Castro which bug with the voice instructions are you referring to? I am not experiencing any such bugs from my use. More detail would be helpful.
-
@Francisco-Castro Well then! That's some constructive criticism we can work with. I have no idea which bug you're talking about. Voice commands are working smoothly on this end. Only the sound level, in combination with other media you're playing at the same time, can improve. I don't consider that a bug.
And I find the notion of an expensive lifetime account a bit exaggerated. As an early adopter, you did get a nice discount. Spread out your purchase over the rest of your life, and I hope you can keep navigating for as long as you live. What are you even talking about?Keep in mind that you're talking to a two-headed design team. With that in mind, a mountain of work has been done that's truly impressive!

@Corjan-Meijerink A couple of cheeky suggestions if I may. Now we can add multiple new stops to the route, can the same icon for petrol, food etc that is added on the map be also added to the waypoint list?
Easy with a simple list shown above to see/remember but seeing the icons would make quick looks of a long list easier, particularly as I can not edit the text of these additions. I may also want to place these stops further down the route and not at the next stop.
This icon addition would also be useful for pre-planned stops in the route as well as this 'Add stop' feature.
Can my 'Favourites' be added to the search list too in addition to the POI categories?
Great work on this 'Add stop' new feature. Works a treat from my initial testing.

It's indeed incredible, that you still expect the Devs to take your complaint seriously. Gosh.
