So I've been using Google Maps to plot my motorcycle rides but it only allows 10 waypoints and, more frustratingly, it tries to outsmart me by deviating from the route I planned if it thinks it's quicker.

SO in an effort to find an app that SIMPLY follows the route I've designed, I'm trying the MyRoute app on my cell phone. I did a simple 5 waypoint route on my PC and saved it. It showed up on my phone - perfect so far.

Then when I use it for the actual route, it starts sending me up a different road.

Surely there's got to be a setting (or another app) that JUST FOLLOWS MY ROUTE! ... Sorry, this is so frustrating.

    Anyone can help? Thanks

@Lou-V There could be a few reasons why your route isn’t followed. The quickest way for someone to give you an answer is for you to share your route in this forum. Make sure that the privacy is set to public first.

@Lou-V Thank you for sharing your route.
Firstly, the route has been planned using the OpenStreetMap, MRA navigation uses the HERE map so it is always prudent to use the HERE planning map.
I suspect that your problem is caused by the position of your first route point. It is on a building and not a road. It is best to place your first route point 100yds or so from your actual start position, this ensures that you will pass it and not be redirected back.

@Nick-Carthew Thanks so much Nick for those pointers. I will mention that it did give me a problem on that first waypoint so I just ignored it and kept going. It was later that it tried sending me up a different road north.

I'll switch to HERE though and give it another shot ... I'm in the 2 week trial stage and I really want to subscribe if I know it'll stop trying to outsmart me.

@Lou-V Route points 2 and 5 are a long way off of the road.

Zoom into the first route point using the zoom button, make any adjustments and then use the right arrow > to move through all route points.

@Lou-V The first and last route points are always via points (hand shape) these have to be skipped manually if you miss them or you will forever be sent back to pass them.

                  @Lou-V, another tip:

Place your shaping points away from any turn or crossings in your route.
So better not this (your route):

                  dd385530-a3ea-402c-931b-7ed16e7da0d2-image.png

                  But this (changed waypoint locations):
                  072881c8-0315-4b3a-a3dc-d176572f3ffc-image.png

Also in some situations directions will not be spoken if a shapingpoint is too near a turn or crossing. This helps prevent that too.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle.

Every good app should follow your created route. But only if you give the app no room to create other options.
One way to this this is. Use enough points.

Route calculation algoritimes are becomes more and more "smart/intelligent' these days. MRA has a option: "Use Traffic aware routing". This can alter your route.
                    Disable it and try again.

(I use MRA Next only on Android Auto. Every comment, suggestion, etc will be based on my usage with Android Auto)
