Hallo allemaal,
Hello all,
My name is Albert van den Elsen.
I started using MyRouteApp after an eventful period around Mapsource and Basecamp.
I still remember how that went. A friend of mine had met someone from MyRouteApp at his motorcycle club. He became super enthusiastic and immediately took a Goldmember subscription.
At that time indeed thought "yes yes it will be another DIY project".
I still had these thoughts until I arrived at the Vijfhuizen Motorcycle fair.
After a while we found the MyRouteApp stand.
After a short demonstration and some explanations I also subscribed for a Gold Membership.
With some joy I now can say that I hardly touched Basecamp anymore after this confrontation.
Yes ... Sometimes i have to because people asked questions about BC and because of that I had to take a peek.
During the last few years, MRA has grown into a very mature environment.
We cannot talk about one program because it is a route planner, a collaboration point, a friends club, a bulletin board, a forum and a social media environment in one.
What else do you want?
A month ago I saw the call for RouteXperts. Immediately I signed up and successfully completed the exam so that I can participate in the RX RouteXpert team.
I hope you give me ability to help your help you with my knowledge and hope that everyone enjoys MRA as much as I do today. -
@Albert-van-den-Elsen
Welcome Albert, it's good to have you on board, I am sure your knowledge will be very useful. -
@Albert-van-den-Elsen Same-same here, only slightly different. I have been using Tyre until a few months ago. Switching to MRA was a very good decision although I miss a few Tyre functions (or have not found their MRA equivalent yet).

What Tyre functions are you looking for in MRA @Callewaert-Francky ?

Hello Albert, welcome! As you're still one of the first 10 to reply to the New Users Corner, I'm awarding you with the contributor award.
Aside from that, I really enjoyed reading your introduction. This is exactly what makes me and my colleagues very excited: creating a convincing platform not by big advertising, sales talks or other forceful methods, but by creating internal quality and always keeping the end user in mind.
As said, I look forward to seeing more from you in our community and I hope you'll have tons of great rides in the future.

For one: the possibility to select a group of routepoints (e.g. from point 7 to point 23) and get a calculation of the distance and time of that stretch. I used this to cut a long multi day route in +/- 300km - 5 hour parts for the individual days

the option to select a group of routepoints and automatically get the distance and time calculated for that particular stretch. I used this a lot preparing multi day trips starting from a single route with the basic outline of all the "must visit" points and roads, and afterwards cutting them in realistic 200-300km long distances.
In fact, old paper maps sometimes had a kind of table giving the distance between each and every city on that map. something similar between "major" routepoints may be an idea?

@Albert-van-den-Elsen Hello Albert, welcome on board. Is your friend a member of the Triumph club?

Hello @Callewaert-Francky. Sorry for my late reply.
You have mentioned 2 features of Tyre that you would like to see in MRA and a quick way of getting the distance from city to city. I will answer these in order and refer to my picture.
Using the Waypoints information bar on the left, I can use simple maths to tell me that the distance from route point 20 to RP 27 is approximately 70 miles and approximately 1.5 hours. There is no need to be any more accurate than that. I will admit that the Tyre feature made it a little easier though.
It is easy to split a route by using the Split tool from the Gold members toolbox. You can even reverse a route but always check after reversing for one way and dual carriageway roads where you may need to adjust some RPs.
And finally distance between major towns and cities is easy. Sometimes when I am planning a route, I will have another tab or window open with a blank MRA map and then I just add two RPs from one point to another for an instant answer.
I hope this helps.

@Callewaert-Francky Strongly agree with this one
@Nick-Carthew-RouteXpert whilst these are workarounds, thank you by the way, being available in one screen and not having to open other screens would be more beneficial.
