Hello from California, USA
-
Hello everyone, I'm DJ. Living in California. I just started using MyRoute with the My route navigation app for iOS. I regularly do motorcycle trips out here ranging from 200 miles to about 600 miles a day. So that's what I'm using the app for.
Having a couple of frustrating issues that hopefully there's an easy fix for:
-
Is there a way to adjust the volume of the voice directions in the app? It's so much louder than the level of Spotify for instance.
-
Is there a way for the voice directions to speak the street name you're supposed to turn on next? Even on the iPhone screen it only shows an arrow, and how far the turn is, but no street name. This is so frustrating being on a motorcycle and having to look down all the time for when the turn is coming up.
-
When you miss a waypoint, the directions goes crazy, haha. I had to do a big detour because of roadwork closing a freeway. App kept on trying to take me back to where I missed the waypoint, even though 20 miles down the road I was back on the route I planned. I had to shut the app down and use Apple Maps for my directions because it wouldn't stop telling me to turn around and go back. It wouldn't just continue from where I rejoined the planned route.
Anyway, hopefully you guys can help me sort these little quirks out. Overall, the app and map planning is exactly what I need. Just these couple issues I'm having.
Thanks.

Hi @DJ-3 DJ, first of all welcome to the forum.
Great that you started using MRA and MRA Navigation.
Did you know that MRA Navigation uses the Here map?
The Here map is only available to plan routes if you have a "Gold" subscription.I can give the following answers to your questions:
- No, the sound cannot be adjusted in the current version, it may be in the next new version.
- No, this too cannot be set in the current version, it may also be available in the next new version.
- That depends on how you have composed your route, for that you should share the url of a route here, make sure it is "Public". Formation points are automatically skipped after 2 or 3 alternative route directions, via-points (hands) you have to skip manually. Click on the 3 dots and then on skip and enter the point that should be skipped.

@DJ-3, Welcome!
- In the Android App there is an App volume setting that gives options for (translated from Dutch, sorry!) "Louder", "Normal" or "Less loud". I know there are some unexplainable differences between the IOS and Android versions, but I don't know if this is one of them.
- I never missed this function, because usually you have no time to read streetnames anyway.
- Yes it sometimes happens that the route starts over, or that it skips to the next waypoint while you don't want to. Of course you can navigate with someting else and skip the route completely by doing so, but you might as well restart the route in Navigation and skip to the point where you want to go.

I was under the impression that the Here map is also available for basic members that also have a Navigation subscription.
-
Hi Con, no the Here-map is only available for Gold members

That's NOT what is being communicated here: https://www.myrouteapp.com/nl/shop
It tells me that If you are any member, with a Navigation subscription the (obviously needed) Here map is added to your Routeplanner account. As far as I know this is new since the subscription changes, and is a quite logical change since you simply cannot deny Navigation subscribers the use of the Here map in the planner.
-
@Con-Hennekens The Here map is available to plan routes within the navigation app.

No, It says: "MRA Premium Routebewerker", that is NOT the Navigation app... It is quite logical for a paying Navigation customer to get the already paid for Here Map into the planner, isn't it?
-
@Con-Hennekens
So I meant in the planner, not Navigation, there you can, as Nick says and what has been communicated, use the Here map to plan your route.
Navigation should be seen separately from the Planner -
@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master, Yes I know these are different apps, but it is NOT what is being communicated. If this works as you and Nick say, Navigation should ONLY be sold as an add-on to the planner. There is virtually NO use for Navigation without the planner, so you CANNOT deny someone with a basic account the use of the here map in the planner. There are plenty of other features that make it worthwhile to pay for Gold.
I am not making this point for myself, I have full subscriptions. I am making this point for the many customers that could feel scammed with a useless subscription on Navigation. AND for the credibility of MyRouteApp.
The table clearly shows a checkmark under a Navigation subcription for the use of the Here map under the Premium Routeplanner. Have it changed otherwise...
-
@Con-Hennekens Look again at the chart. It clearly shows a X for the Here map under the basic account.
-
@Nick-Carthew, I don't need to look again, I know how charts work. There is a V under Navigation for the use of Here under the head of the Premium Planner... And it should be... This is quite a disappointing discussion.
I have been an advocate for MRA since the very beginning. But this is just not right.
-
@Con-Hennekens The top line of the chart shows the MRA products, the column on the left are features available for that product. If you go down from the basic account to the Here map in the left column you will see a X, this indicates that the Here map is not available.
-
All,
Perhaps we should all remind ourselves of this thread: https://forum.myrouteapp.com/post/13825
We discussed this subscription to Navigation and the effect in the routeplanner before. No need to repeat this I think.
Unfortunately that thread is in Dutch. Autotranslate? Haha!

Exactly, following that logic proves I am right. The "V" in the Navigation column shows that the Here map is available for the product mentioned in the left column (which is Premium Planner). But I am stopping this senseless discussion. This is about principles. If you all think you are right, MRA is selling crippled Navigation. Does it feel nice to be right?

No, no need to repeat that indeed, thanks for the link, I new I read it somewhere:
This translates into:
MRA Navigation users will get access to the HERE map in MRA Routeplanner when they are Basic members. I expect this to be live next week.
Thanks for the heads-up.
