I'm not here to bash MRA, I really really really like this product, however The veering off course is terrible! Went on a 600 mile overnight journey. Day 1 this thing wouldn't stay on course, wouldn't re calculate, just over all a bad experience. Day 2 it just wouldn't lock on the route, tried resetting my phone, used a second phone even went as far as learning how to calibrate my GPS on my phone, and yes my MRA app and maps were updated. I really wish they could get this fixed. I do believe it is an android issue. We had 2 iPhones on bikes and 2 Androids, both Androids were terrible. The iPhone was a little better but still not great, still veering off and thinking it's on a complete different road. I finally got to the point where I feel it is more stressful on the ride to try and figure out where I'm supposed to be. I switched over to Google maps and had 0 issues with it staying on route. Of course it didn't take us on the exact route we wanted to go but still was a lot less stressful. I know everyone thinks I'm bad mouthing the product. I'm really not! I can't believe no one else is having the problems I'm seeing. As for designing a route this thing is great! For staying on that route...UHG!!!!!
I tried resetting my phone, I tried calibrating my GPS, I tried stopping the route and restarting it and telling it to jump to the next waypoint. I tried using a friends Android, I tried using my g/f IPhone....I think i covered all my bases!!!!!!!

Again please don't take this as I am lashing out, I just want this thing to work like I was told it should!!

    I do not agree 😉
The codebase and all the logic for calculations and skips are equal on iOS and Android.

What exactly do you mean with "could not lock on the route" and "veering off thinking it's on a complete different road". Can you explain this using screenshots perhaps? Also there is a setting for enabling/disabling recalculation, did you check that?

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebar to the saddle.

Thank you all for your response and your willingness to help. I have planned many routes on this thing and have had the "floating" icon on all my routes. I have done routes where I use many waypoint (to many according to the help on here) and I have done routes with no so many waypoints, still experiencing the same problem. Here is my route....

      https://www.myrouteapp.com/route/open/12209363

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S23 my phone. On this trip we tried a Samsung Galaxy S25, an iPhone 15 (2024 model) and also the new iPhone 16. All of them will not hold the route. @Con-Hennekens when I say "hold the route, or lock on the route" I mean there is a blue line running from waypoint to waypoint. My arrow icon will not stay on that blue line. When I am riding or even sitting at a stop light, the arrow icon moves. Sometimes moving so far off the blue line that the route I need to be on disappears from my phone screen. When this happens sometimes it re corrects and attempts to get me back on track, Sometimes the arrow just stays lost no where near where we need to be. When you are in an unfamiliar area what do you do? I have got to the point where I try to stop the route and restart it, sometimes that helps. But I don't believe I should need to do this 10-12-15 times a ride!! I keep comparing this to Google maps. Saturday night we left our hotel and backtracked on a few roads we had been on earlier (roads that MRA could not stay on course). I used Google to get to the restaurant, then to the home we went to visit, then back to the hotel. We were on windy twisty roads and the icon on Google never left that blue line, and certainly never got us lost or off track. I know Google maps is a whole different animal, however I feel this rules out my phone having a GPS issue. On my above route problems started @ waypoint #2. Pulled me off route and sent me thru north Chagrin Reservation onto rt 174. also @ waypoint #5 it rerouted us across rt 87 to rt44. We were meeting riders at waypoint #6. There is a brewery there, I set the waypoint before the brewery. When I arrive there all I do is pull off the side of the road, guys fire up their bikes and we go back on the road. I wont even turn off the bike because I fear trying to get the MRA app to start back up and be on the correct route! We were OK from there until Waypoint #8. Here it veered off the blue line. I was able to just stay on route and eventually after a few miles it recorrected itself and put me back on route. The next problem and this is where it really got stupid...After waypoint #13 MRA sent me NW down rt. 40 to 40/4 to alexander rd which brought us to the hotel. Now along all these errors while navigating, the only way I can stay on route is..when I make a turn I glance to my phone and I see the next turn (Example, turn left on 44 in 12 miles). At this point the MRA map is so erratic I just drive until I find the next road and hope by then MRA has caught up to itself or re corrected the route. I have no screen shots, very dangerous to do while riding my bike! This is one of the reasons I bought MRA. Figured I could make a route and follow it successfully and safely and get to a destination without starting and stopping this program many times. The original route I had planned between waypoint #13 and #15 there is nothing wrong with the road, As stated earlier google maps brought me out that way, and later that evening brought me to the hotel that way.

@D-Griffin i've looked at the route.
You got the Here map to navigate OK
        Waypoints placed OK
There shouldn't be any problem according to the route.
Maybe you could serve y the crash Log, holding on to the version number in your account and then send that to the helpdesk.
Are you Navigating online or offline
You could try to change that
I see that you use the motorcycle profile. That shouldn't be a problem but you could try the car profile.
In your case I would send in the crash Log

@D-Griffin, In my view there is nothing wrong with that route, and I cannot think of anything being wrong with a route that would result in what you describe. To be honest I never heard of anything like it, at least not in any version that starts with a 4.x.x. Since you are using a Samsung S25, your version cannot be older than that I suppose?

@Marinus-van-Deudekom I have done with online and offline, no difference. When I first started on MRA yes I screwd a lot of routes up. But with help and guidance from all of you, I feel I have the route planning down pretty good. I am just frustrated!! When you put an android and an iPhone together on the same bike, same route and you get 2 different results, that to me is an issue with the android/iPhone platform communicating with the program, this is just my opinion. I will reach out to the help desk see if they have any suggestions, I hate 2 give up on a good product, however what I thought was gonna make my bike so much more fun to ride has done the direct opposite!!!

Con, I have never seen this.....When I plan a route I put waypoint #1 a long way away from the start of the route. I have never been asked permission or declined it. If you look at my route my start is away from where we leave. I do this because who knows with the phones what's gonna happen, so I give a bit of a buffer zone, to make sure all is on and working. In this case Sunday morning my 1st waypoint is a good mile away from where we started, and it just never would find the route from the time we left the hotel. Once past waypoint #1 it finally caught up, but just long enough to start veering off route. I pulled over got on Google maps (which had close to same route planned in MRA) we all followed that for 3.5 hours with ZERO map issues.....Got to lunch ate, and did another 4.5 hours home with ZERO Google map issues, no stress and actually liked to be on my bike! No veering off route, no icon going so far off of route that my planned route leaves my screen leaving me totally lost. Con forgive my shortness! I understand you are here helping and I greatly appreciate you and your time. However on my bike sometimes leading 10-15 riders and MRA fails......not cool. I just want someone who programs/edits or what ever this MRA to take me serious and help me out.....Ticket went in tonight, will see what happens. Thanks again for your help and your time, MRA is lucky to have you, and I hope in the near future I can be there helping new guys stumble thru!!!!

@D-Griffin, it sounds perfectly fine how you go about your route, that for sure is not the culprit. Now I understand that the phone keeps calculating a route to a point just a mile away? That seems to be a clear indication the app does not know where you are, just like with "veering of a route". That's very strange, since gMaps obviously works okay. That's why I still think it is a permission problem.

                        Please check this:

                        1. What is the version number of your app. To find this open the app, click on the profile icon in the top right and scroll to the bottom. The version number is there.

                        2. Close the app, and go into your android system settings. Goto Location, ensure it is enabled. In location permissions look for the MyRoute-app. Ensure permissions are enabled and always on. Also check if Exact location is enabled.

I am looking forward to your findings.

Also @Marinus-van-Deudekom his remark about a secondary screen is a valid one. His question means whether you are using an Android Auto compatible screen, instead of the app natively on your phone. If you do,
that could perhaps indicate a problem with the GPS built into the Android Auto device.

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

@Con-Hennekens Versio4.4.1-410 and went into setting, permissions are on all the time and location on precise. As for the second screen I Bluetooth to a Android Auto/Car Play stereo. It Is a Soundstream V2 motorcycle radio. When the icon starts to veer, or take me off route, I click my phone screen on and the phone and the radio screen are doing the same thing. All the radio does is mirror my phone screen. The radio itself has no GPS built into it and is doing no navigating. I also have a Rokform case on my phone. I reached out to Samsung's help line and they suggested sometimes in very rare cases a phone case can affect GPS signal. Yesterday I took off the case, but I still had the same results with the icon veering off route.

@Con-Hennekens doing a little research here is what I found on MRA and the second pic down where the icon is off the route and in the lake is exactly what I am seeing on a regular basis.....And apparently others are too!!

@D-Griffin, Yes I know, but that was many versions ago, and the reason I asked for your version number 😉

The radio itself has no GPS built into it and is doing no navigating.

I have been looking up your device:
                              https://motorcycleaudio.com/collections/harley-davidson-headunits/products/v2-headunit
and I learned that actually it DOES have built in GPS, and it DOES offer native Navigation through IGO Primo.

What I would like to know is whether the MRA app also veers off while navigating without this Android Auto connection. I bet it does not 😉 My Ford Sync3 has a very similar problem, which I mitigated like this:

Go into your Android Settings, apps, all apps, search for Android Auto, Permissions, Locations, deby location permissions to Android Auto. If you do this, the MRA app will fall back to the phone its location.

Please report back. I am very interested in your findings!

I am just an enthusiastic MRA user, and hope you will be one too!

Out of interest, if one was to turn off location permissions in AA then surely MRA could not run in offline mode, or could it??

@richard-3v, I don't see the link. Those are separate things. Offline or online, the Locations Service will fall back to the Phones GPS. GPS reception works independently from Cell network, or internet availability.

@Con-Hennekens Con the igo maps only use GPS when activated. yes ut has its own Nav on the radio, however not when i am using the MRA app. at that point the GPS on the radio is off and not in use. Yes I still have the veering off route issue if i don't use my radio. i have a local route near Lake Erie that goes off route everytime i go. ot will put the icon out in Lake Erie. i have been on this rpute many times on my bike and my truck. truck has no NAV or anything in it. so at that point im using jist my phone and it still goeas off course.
