For me it seems to add the waypoint at the end if the new point is further away then the original destination and before it if it is closer. I see the logic behind this but it would be handy to be able to choose. If you click on the list of waypoints when travelling it would be good to be able to re-arrange the list. But I'd like to go their first, then go home. So to be able to re-arrange the order would be a good addition.

A post in this forum by Nick Hodge titled "MRA and the BMW Connected App" seems to have answered my question above. I'm going to give that a try.
