Waypoints - Number and Colouring
-
Firstly, apologies if this has already come up but i can't keep up with the number of new forum posts.
One area i commented on before was the waypoint colours - five isn't enough and also as someone who is colour blind, they're not the easiest thing to use. On our trips we want separate colours/identifiers for and not limited to -
Hotels
Fuel - one for bit tank
Fuel - one for small tank
Food
Coffee stops
Photo OpsCould we please have at least eight of them and name the colour under the picture of it (example below) - when i'm trying to allocate waypoint colours, i have to click through several times if i've missed the appropriate red/green choice. Not so much a problem on a day out but when i'm planning 14 days for 20 plus riders it's an issue for me

The color actually doesn't have to be a problem. Just hover over the colored circles and the color name will be visible.
Five colors work fine as long as you attach a POI marker icon. You can pick from 21 different ones.
So you can create 105 combination. -

Hi @Solo1138 I understand what your asking for and more choice is generally a good idea but your examples don't really justify it for me
If your stopping for fuel/petrol/gas it is irrelevant how much your putting in, your stopping at a petrol station so the quantity of fuel your going to use is irrelevant to the colour, its a gas station stop so you mark it with the gas station colour
if you are interested in the quantity of fuel you could add this detail to the waypoint name or notes
Likewise with coffee & food, both are just sustenance so your stopping at a restaurant or bar so the same colour can be used, if you want to differentiate you can use the coffee & hamburger iconssorry but IMO you do not make a good case for more colours, so for me this goes towards the bottom of the pile of things that need sorting in MRA

Thanks Brian,
Putting notes is great, but when you're leading a group of 20 bikes and you only want 3 or 4 people stopping for fuel, notes and a different POI doesn't really work at 70mph - a different coloured waypoint (at least for those not colour blind) is a very simple reminder for those who should be filling up and those who shouldn't.
And stopping for fuel is incredibly relevant if you've ever toured in a large group covering many miles - 4 bikes filling up takes 10 minutes. 20 bikers topping up 10 litres takes 30 minutes. Not ideal when you have to plan in 4 or 5 fuel stops. It can waste hours as we found out on previous large trips, hence the attempted fuel discipline at stops.
But thanks for your answer and at least i know not to query again.
