As an Android user the Android Auto options for route guidance are minimal (MRA being one that actually works - mostly ok in my experience).

Others out there - Sygic for example offer a much better interface (maps/smoother auto zoom etc) but does not work on a route where you're starting and finishing from home with route cross overs etc as it always finds the most direct route.

My question is what are the short/medium and longer term AA updates being planned? One I'd like is the waypoint in the top right (as per the phone).

    Thanks,
    Andy

@Andrew-Dickerson it all depends on Google and Apple. When they finaly give in, things could change. As long as they are in charge, nothing will happen

I agree ! I also have Sygic installed, and it even shows a picture of the lane you are to follow when leaving the highway, directly on Android Auto.
So to blame Google and Apple is just an excuse from my point of view. A lot of good things can added ....

I don’t use Sygic myself. Just did a small Peek at there website. As far as I understand there route guidance does not cover a route like made with MRA, just simple A B driving. If you to compare it with that, be my guest. My €900 T865X covers it all but that’s a real navigation device.

please don't kill me - but its's my conviction after many painful experiences:
If you want to navigate - take a navigation device!
AA devices aren't navigation devices. But things like T865-X are.

            Nothing is impossible ;-)

              So home come I did a 4000km trip with one ? 😀 😀 😀
The device is not the issue here !!
How come Maps, Waze, TomTom, Osmand, Sygic works ... ?
No need for a dedicated android device when you can run the apps from your pocket, only if the app you are running has issues on AA ....

My iPhones 12 Pro Pro max and recent iPhone 12 min ( ( refurbished 200€ ) are very good devices to navigate with myRouteApp ( 5G and fast )
For Android,I use a Carpe Iter v4C 7" ( also very good navigate with myRouteApp )
For only offroad of dirty roads I use a Zümo XT2 in track-modus

Agree on Sygic, a map made on MRA (market leader for route design IMO) will not function with Sygic (or any other AA app in my experience?) as it only works A to B, what I'm keen for is this type of interface (you can include Calimoto's as well) but using the functionality of MRA Navigation. Calimoto for example works with Apple on Carplay but again not AA. Assume AA coding is somewhat more complex or restrictive vs Apple? I'm not overly criticising MRA on their design but it could be improved upon IMO.

@Andrew-Dickerson again I'm nog shure because I have no knowledge of Calimoto. But if that is working on iOS it must have the same traditions due to Apple and its protecting their brand

From my point of view, Sygic is the best when it comes to Android Auto or CarPlay.
In the last version they have added Routes support, i tried exporting a route from MRA and loading it in Sygic and it works without any issues.
It displays advences lane guidance and next 3 fueling stations (you can actually click on the AA screen on a POI or a gas station and add it as a waypoint!)
You can also report traffic problems, and traffic congestions are better displayed than the on Google Maps...
So this is just an example of how many things can be implemented on Android Auto/CarPlay ...
Lets not blame Google and Apple !

Its like we don't have speed limit when not following a route, or a simple record function in CarPlay.

I would guess fairly simple stuff but over a year since requesting, its this that really puts me off MRA as my full time app.

Adrian, that's interesting you're running routes ok with Sygic. What I have noticed with some older MRA routes I'd created was no waypoints on the download/Sygic upload yet new routes are pulling through (assume there must be a change with MRA programming data at some point?) Have you tried say a figure of 8 type route starting and finishing from your house - this is one type scenario I can't get to work - also is that the Motorcycle addon you're running with Sygic?
