      Hi,

I saw the information about the new sync functionality in the last update release. I have so far just ignored this because I had no plan to use the sync function (I dont want to change something that works) and I really hope MRA will not force me to use it.

In my experience whenever something is called sync it means problems and there are already some topics here where people had sync problems etc.

I was perfectly happy with using MRA and the route planner as it was before without any sync, at least for me I dont see the point for such a function.

However I have now started to receive sync error messages in MRA even though I have never activated any sync etc.
When I open the app and routes, I can see now all the time a sync progress window for some seconds which means I guess that the sync is anyway on.

So my question is how I can disable the sync function and use MRA as before, which worked perfect?

      Regards,
      Thomas

You can turn off the sync function by going to your route map in the app. Click the three dots right upper corner (see the image below). However, I don't quite understand why you want to turn off this feature. If it's just because you’re constantly getting error messages, it might be better to create a support ticket and report the issue there. The function works perfectly. All your routes are up to date, no matter where you modify them. If you do so in the app, you can seamlessly continue working in Routelab, and vice versa.

@Thomas-Scharrer Please contact support about the issue you have (myrouteapp.com/support) and include your logs.

To get the logs, long press the version number at the bottom of your profile page (where all the settings are). If you mention me and this forum message in your ticket, you will get a quick response from me there 😉

Its not that I constantly get error messages but I got some and it surprised me because didnt want to activate the sync function.
I simply dont need the sync function because as it was before (without sync) I also had direct access to the latest version of a route everywhere and I was perfectly happy with that so I just dont see the need for me to sync.

I dont have this check box checked for sync all my routes but it seems to sync anyway thats why I asked how it can be disabled.

@Thomas-Scharrer Which version of the app are you running then? And I still don’t understand why you wouldn’t want to use the sync function! Don’t you always want to see the most up-to-date version of your route?

                I have version: 4.3.1 - 336

Yes its very important for me to have the latest version of the route but that was also the case before sync?
When I changed a route in route planner I always had immediately the new version available on the phone because I am always online so why would I need in addition sync something?

@Thomas-Scharrer I'm completely lost with you! You say that you always have the most recent version of a route available and that you're always online, but you don't like the sync function at all?
You have two three options: either you turn off the sync function, or you leave it on or sync per route when auto-sync is off.

@Thomas-Scharrer If you are always online, it indeed makes no difference.
The sync simply ensures that all your routes (with newest changes) are also available offline.

Keep in mind that the "old" method of "make available for offline use" is non-existing anymore. It has been replaced with a marker to enable sync for that route. If you need to stop navigation for whatever reason in an aria with no internet coverage, you will not be able to restart the route if you don't enable sync for that route.

Funny side effect of the implementation is that the blue bar named "Synchronising library" also shows when nothing has been enabled for syncing. It could be that this is throwing some folks off 😉

Thanks for the answers, now its more clear so it just shows syncing even when its not on.

my point was that the new sync function is "new" but before that function you also had always all routes updated when you are online. So the whole new sync function basically is only of interest for people who are offline and want routes available offline

Yes, if you did not enable any routes for syncing, it is literally syncing nothing 😉

Yes of course, but that is basically everyone, because everybody loses their internet connection every now and then...

                            not in Norway 🙂
but it is then anyway a good "backup" in case the world goes down
