(no) Sound
-
Hello everyone,
I'm currently trying out the myroute app and am quite impressed, especially by the rich display in combination with CarPlay. The only thing I can't get right is the sound: both with wired headphones and with Bluetooth connection (and even via cell phone speakers directly), with CarPlay and mobile-only, in each case I can play the test sounds etc. when setting up, but as soon as I navigate, there are no more sounds. Only one time the first two turns were still audible, but already 'swallowed', then nothing more.
Thank you very much for any advice on what I have overlooked or could try.

Hello Peter,
thank you very much, I will try the whole thing soon with an Iphone 12 (my job cell phone) and see how it behaves then. I doubt whether this will solve my second problem (topic: 'order of waypoints?').

@Wolfram : Hey, please pair in the car via audio / media.
I only use my iPhone Xr but everything sounds good, including the radio, but then directly via the radio player app.
All MRA instructions can be heard clearly and the radio is displayed and hidden.

@Hubert-Thoring Hi - as written: the problem also exists if I don't use CarPlay at all, but only the cell phone. But like my „sound-problem“: I will try different devices and settings at the weekend and I am sure that I will get the whole thing under control thanks to the good advice here in the forum.

@Hubert-Thoring
a quick report from testing: with the iPhone 12 and the appropriate settings, the sound is output via the speakers on the vehicle. Thank you all again for your support.
It would be ideal if I could get the sound to come directly from the cell phone to the headphones. Explanation: I use it on the motorcycle and don't really want to sound the environment with the turn-by-turn announcements. (The motorcycle cannot output the sound via headphones.) I have already searched the Internet, but this does not seem to be intended and is probably not a problem with MyRoute, but if anyone has a general tip for me on this, I would be happy to accept it.

@Wolfram : Then on the motorcycle, the headphones should be directly paired with the mobile phone via Bluetooth, goes directly between mobile phone and Bluetooth headphones.

@Hubert-Thoring Good morning Hubert,
that's exactly what I'm doing, but all kinds of sounds (music etc.) are transmitted directly from the cell phone to the headphones, but not the turn-by-turn instructions from myroute.

@Wolfram I am finding at the moment that I have to start and stop a podcast (or similar music track) before I hear the turn instructions from MRA. Once I do this once during a session then I have no problems - my iPhone is connected directly to my helmet headset. That said, I am using iOS 18 Developer Beta 6 on mi iPhone 15 Pro but I had put this down to using the iOS beta. Might be worth a try to see if that allows MRA instructions for you.

@Dave-J-0 Thanks, Dave.
I did that 'accidentally' (and several times) because I wanted to try out whether I could hear other sounds.
Wolfram -
@Wolfram ok Very strange what is going on.

Yes in the past, yes, after iOS version? it was the same for me, I use e.g. Spotify or a radio player and then start the MyRouteApp then the voice for the announcement on the audio way, so test it. The music will also be hidden with me
Currently with me, an iPhone Xr and iOS 17.6.1, but now that's always okay even if MyRouteApp runs alone.

Feedback from another hour of testing:
I tried all possible combinations: first music on, then CarPlay connected, then sometimes music off, sometimes not, sometimes CarPlay first, then music etc. The result: with the new iPhone/iOS, all sounds (music or turn-by-turn announcements) are played exclusively via the motorcycle speakers. With the old 6S, no sounds are possible in this way, neither on the motorcycle nor on the cell phone.And now I have decided not to invest any more time. I'll just use the app, which looks really super informative on the motorcycle display, without sound.
Thanks again to everyone who thought along and tried to help with tips!
