New Zoom
-
This is just to show the new zoom factor.
The settings are ** (--) (-) (-+) (+) (++) **
-
@Jörgen wow, awesome!
-
@Jörgen, Nice! Thank you!
You took those screenshots all within a minute@Corjan-Meijerink, I think it would be more intuïtive to have the -+ replaced by 0 or = (but that is really a small thing...)
-
@Con-Hennekens I would much rather keep the +- then a 0=
-
@Tumbleweed, my thought is that -+ does not represent anything. 0 (being zero of course) stands for "default" or "100%". It is no coïncidence that CTRL-0 on a Windows machine reverts back to a zoomfactor of 100% while CTRL+ and CTRL- up and down that zoom factor.

If you do adjust the zoom factor, does that impact the app zooming in as you approach a turn? I also noticed that after adjusting my zoom factor, it now seems to override any attempt at a manual zoom adjustment. Is this correct ? I think it was said earlier that using the manual zoom adjust stops the auto zoom in for turns.
-
@Doug-Robinson, I tried this for you, but although it seems not to break manual zooming it does act a little weird. I have set the zoomfactor in settings to ++. Now when I start a route and zoom in once a get a real extremely large zoomfactor. Do I zoom in again, it reverts back to what looks like the usual maximimum zoom factor. After that it it doesn't zoom any further. So it looks like the zoom-setting does not make the maximum or minimum zoom factors bigger or smaller, but instead is just where you "step in" into the fixed possible of zoomfactors when you start navigating.

With reference to how Google Maps zooms in automatically when approaching a turn, etc, please share any experiences with how MRA does this. And at the same time, if MRA is capable of doing so, explain how it is supposed to work.
I have set my zoom factor to '+', the distance this shows works well for my likes.
However, when approaching a stop/turn, etc, the app shows very little to no zoom at all (more times than not, it is none at all). Not very functiaonal in scenarios if one is in a place with many possible exits (combined with heavy traffic) - keeping an eye on the traffic around so as to prevent an accident and trying to make sure the correct turn is taken is almost impossible.
-
@GT-JWR I too would like the auto zoom to be much more distinct near exits/turns/roundabouts. I've set it to ++ and yet I find the zoom level insufficient.
But I gotta say that this is already a huge improvement on the early releases.
-
@Stefan-Hummelink, I think the max. zoom level is not upped using this feature, like I explained here:
https://forum.myrouteapp.com/post/33107
If that is true, setting ++ will effectively disable auto-zoom and always show the maximum zoomlevel.
I agree that a more distinct difference in zoomlevels is welcome. Meaning, a bigger zoom out on highways at high speed and a bigger zoom in on crossings and slow speed.

@Con-Hennekens said in New Zoom:

Exactly! That's why I would like a even larger zoom than currently available. For me, ideally, the ++ at the moment
matches the "normal" maxed out zoom and I would appreciate some additional zoom levels for the maneauvres. I'm not sure but didn't Corjan mention somewhere on this forum before that the current max zoom is the max amount allowed by here? That would be a true pity. -
@Stefan-Hummelink no, that isn’t the case
-
@Corjan-Meijerink What a relief! ️
Can I request the ++ setting to simply offset all zoom levels? I.e. getting the same amount of additional zoom, relative to the max zoom set by the -- - -+ + or ++ setting?
