Release version!

There I am again
As promised, here are the details regarding the changes in newest version!
This version (v4.0.0) will be release to the public coming Mondayhttps://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/4514/it-has-been-done
Since the latest Beta (v3.2.17) we've worked on again quite some improvements! Unfortunately this Beta version cannot be release to you guys (explained here: https://forum.myrouteapp.com/topic/4515/what-s-next) but nevertheless we've listened to your feedback to ensure a great release
What are the changes?
Improvements offline maps
A great frustration! Downloading offline maps often resulted in unknown errors, downloads getting stuck and stuff could break. We've greatly improved the stability of this part of the app.
Things that help:
- You see progress at all times
- More detailed options
- Wifi check
- Background notifications telling you what happened
This all together should make you happy!
Offline mode changes
The app has an "Offline mode" setting. Enabling this, completely disallows the navigation module from using internet. However, it wasn't the best setting for temporary connection loss (which occurs more often).
You can still enable the offline mode which will ensure we only use downloaded maps and do not access the internet. There are however great changes to the experience when internet is temporarily lost but you do want to drive online.
When internet is gone and offline mode is disabled, the app will temporarily go offline. No longer the prompt asking you if you want this, we just do so!
While temporarily offline:- Offline maps are used if available
- Connection errors are ignored
- Recalculations will be done without internet
If after 2 minutes you are still temporarily offline but internet is back, the online mode is used again. Internet still not available? We'll check again in 2 minutes.
If you do not have any offline maps, this method will still work as the close vicinity of where you are driving is cached automatically by your phone. You therefore always have some offline maps If you however are temporarily offline and do not have any offline maps and no route data can be retrieved from your cache, you simply get an error.
Note: if the "Offline mode" setting is enabled, you will never be allowed to go online. No worries!
Audio stability
There were some issues with the audio. Sometimes it would just stop. Volume not load enough. No camera warnings.- We've fixed the camera warning issue!
- Voice instructions should be louder now.
- You can change the volume in the settings
- General stability improved
GPX import
Since a few updates ago - you couldn't open GPX files with the app anymore
On opening a grey overlay would block any interaction with the app forcing you to reboot the app. This has been fixed It should work as expected again.
Minors
- Changed alert sounds (nicer, consistent, higher quality audio files)
- Improved how generated routes are displayed in the main map screen
- Add flag icon to ETA widget
Have a great weekend and hope you are all looking forward to the release!
Best,
Corjan -
