Possibility to share/export the generator roundtour with other Nav Next users
-
This roundtour generator feature... Oh wow! We love it.
It would however be very welcome if the generated roundtour can be quickly exported or shared to other nV Next users by sharing it through WhatsApp or some sort.
Consider the following; you and your mates are intending to drive a roundtour for i e. 3h. The chance that all riders can simultaneously create the same roundtour with the generator is simply neglible. This would imply one user to create the roundtour and be the first rider in the group for the entire ride. If that user however was able to export the result of the generator to his mates that also use Next, this problem is solved!
@Corjan-Meijerink, how much work would it be to implement such feature into the generator?
Ps* this last update still has this enormous lag in the location versus actual spot on the road. I know this has not been targeted in this release, but yet, I still wanted to put it up here haha!
Great work on this upgrade so far Dev-team!

@StefanHummelink I support this request
-
@StefanHummelink great to hear how you enjoy the roundtour feature!
To start off with: I totally understand the suggestion! The chances that 3 people generate the same round trip are actually quite high when you are on the same location and use the same settings. That isn’t very convenient so then the suggestion makes a lot of sense again
Creating such a feature is however slightly more complicated then you might think. You’d then want the same possibility for routes etc. Easiest would be to save the round trip as routetrack (as the website does) and share that url. This would be opened by your friends and can be easily navigated.
However, adding the ability to save round trips means that people want to save simple routes too. Thus they want to be able to edit them and even create them from scratch: waypoint by waypoint. Yes, we totally want to support this! But getting it right is more complicated and takes more time than you might initially think.
Saying this screams a group ride feature (as suggested quite a bit too) where you see the location of your friends on your map. Needs even more time to develop hahaha
I do love the idea and will probably have some sleep with this in my mind
-
TLDR; adding such a feature it something I greatly applaud but needs to be defined well enough to ensure users understand where the features of the app stop and where the website would take over.
Until obviously the app can do all the website does

Haha I can see us having our phones next to eachother and tuning the settings to match hahaha. What a hassle.

But the benefit of the built in generator is to NOT require the website or any other built-in in-between edits. I would strongly urge to stay away from this "after-editing".

Meh, I can see that this causes my initial request to become a lot more cumbersome... Therefore I would simply like to share the "result" of the generator to my mates app, which can use that "result" as if the app had generated it himself. Nothing more, nothing less. With result I mean, the actual in-app "code" that the app uses to navigate the generator route. Practical implementation could be a "transfer route" button ...
Saying this screams a group ride feature
Ya, that would be awesome, but a bit of overkill for the topic in question haha. Nevertheless, I would definitely like the group ride feature.

@StefanHummelink
-
@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master I know, but that works ONLY with created routes from your account, not with generated roundtours in the Next app. Small detail. Hehe.
-
@StefanHummelink
Take a tour with the generator, save it and share it.... -
@Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master I get the feeling you are talking about the roundtour generator in the website environment, but I am discussing the recently introduced roundtour generator inside the new Next app. One does really not want to manually save it and share it... Besides, from what I see now, the Next app can't even save at the moment?
-
@StefanHummelink
I know.
-
That did not add a lot of value @Hans-van-de-Ven-MRA-Master The new round trip feature in the app is so much easier and user friendly but doesn’t allow saving / sharing.
As said I will give it some time to think about! @StefanHummelink I personally really like the idea but not sure yet about the implementation. All sharing now is done using URLs but for that the round trip would need to be saved. Which is something we don’t allow anywhere yet in the Mobile app.
-

@Michel-van-Hagen-MRA-Founder Werkbare oplossing!
We wachten vol verwachting af wat het dev-team gaat doen... Er zijn nog zoveel leuke wensen. Ze zijn nogal druk... Schijnt...
Workable solution!
We'll wait in expense for what the dev-team will do. Many more nice features are suggested here. Apparently the dev-team is quite busy... So it seems.

@StefanHummelink er wordt inderdaad flink wat werk verzet
