Screen Rotation using MRA Navigation
-
Hi All, I have just purchased MRA Navigation which seems excellent although I haven't used it on a journey yet. My question is that I have an iPhone currently and the screen orientation on the MRA Navigation landing page does not rotate (this is an issue with Apple devices apparently)!
Is anyone using MRA Navigation on an Android phone and does the screen orientation work (i.e. Vertical to Horizontal)?
Many Thanks in advance of a response.
Mark.

@mark-appleton Screen rotation on Android works like a charm!
-
@mark-appleton No problem with iPhone 11. But the landing page does not rotate.
-
@mark-appleton Many Thanks Stefan. Does this include the opening screen with the 6 buttons?
-
@mark-appleton No, at my IPhone the landscape modus is only after route start visible.
-
@mark-appleton No, only the actual navigation screen can be rotated. I start the navigation holding the phone in my hand, and then I place it on my SP Connect

Stefan thanks for your response. Much appreciated

The landing page with the six buttons actually DOES rotate on an Android device.
Pity is only that you have to scroll to make the lower buttons visible. -
@mark-appleton. Tried a few things tonight as a result of this message.
I use an iPhone X and Apple Carplay on the Honda NT1100.
Initially, the route arrow remains properly centered, even after rotating the screen. But the moment the Apple Carplay is connected and Navigation is started, the route arrow is on the left side of the screen. While using the Navigation App, the route largely disappears behind the information screens. Is this because of the iPhone version? -
I have a related issue using an older iPhone8 that I use for Navigation in landscape mode; the various navigation elements and text boxes are displayed so large that the map is virtually impossible to view. The track button gets overlayed on top of the Turn box... I have to use it in Portrait mode but it's not ideal given mount setup.

@guy-perrin Do you have Larger Text selected on your phone?
Settings - Accessibility - Display & Text Size -
@nick-carthew Thanks, I suspect the MRA Navigation App doesn't support Dynamic Text; I have already tried to reduce the text size in Settings/Display and in Accessibility and it has no effect in the app.

On android the accessibility does have an impact on the text size.

Landscape mode on any mobile device is always going to take up more screen space with MRA Navigation!!! -
I think the landscapemode deserves some more attention indeed. I really prefer landscape, but the layout of the Navigation screen makes that virtually impossible. In landscape mode route information and buttons should be replaced to one side of the screen. Hopefully Navigation Next wil bring some relief there too.

Whilst I generally use my Garmin XT 95% of the time, there are some instances where coloured waypoints can be quite useful.
Personally I would always use a mobile in Portrait mode to see more of the road ahead.
As we know MRA are particularly good at giving us lots of options and not dictating how we plan our routes etc.
I would hope too that MRA Next would cater for those that prefer to use landscape mode, and move/scale the key information so that it does not “waste’ screen space, as it currently does for MRA Navigation when used in Landscape mode. -
We're currently redesigning the navigation app and are aiming for a closed beta with core functionality at the end of the year! Thanks everyone for providing us with feedback.

@timo-martosatiman-mra, I am glad you are commenting in the forum again. MRA representatives seemed to be absent for a while. I am glad you are back!
