Welcome @Paul-900 I am just in the process of switching from a dedicated Sat Nav to using MRA Navigation Next although I have been using MRA for years - brilliant planning platform. Some great work being done by the team and the forum is really helpful.

It indeed started as a hobby for motorcyclists, but I would say that it generally works as well for any other "niche".
It would be good that you publish here your experience and perhaps describe what you really miss.

Hello, yes I will keep an eye on it. I'm happy to share my experiences because MRA is currently my backup navigation system if the Garmin ever has a problem, it's safe to say that everyone has their cell phone with them. VG Hubert

I also came from a Basecamp / Garmin background and I've found MRA to be the best route planner currently available. Sorry to hear you've had issues with your XT. If any of us can answer any questions about the XT (GPS of choice for many of us) or about MRA just ask!!
