Scenic Route
-
Hello, I try to generate a scenic route from Kurtinig (south-Tirol) to Weitra in Austria. What ever settings I try it can not be calculated. It gives a note to check the direction because to be close to the sea :). The sea is far away. Distance is also not so far but the route planner is not working.
Any idea how to solve that? Maybe I am doing something wrong here.
Regards
Thomas

@Thomas-Neumeyer Without trying myself, I do not know the distance of the route that you are attempting to create. The scenic route generator has a limit of approximately 500 - 600 km. Could the problem also be caused by seasonal road closures?

@Nick-Carthew
The A-B route is approximately 330 miles (530Km) as a direct/short route, so a scenic route is going to be longer.Splitting it into two scenic froutes (using Salzburg in my experiment as a halfway point) works, so I think the distance is the problem as Nick suggests.
Shortening the route (Brenner Pass -> Linz for example) also works. That's 238 miles (380Km).

@richtea999 Thank you for the reply. I thought so also. Would be nice if the message would be: "Your Scenic Route is too long and limited to 500 km" and not telling check the route as it is too close to the sea. Just my opinion.
Anyway quite happy with the route planner.

@Thomas-Neumeyer @richtea999 It isn’t a fixed maximum distance that restricts the generating of a route, it is to do with how many nodes. A very curvy route would contain a lot more nodes than a straight route.
I am sure that there will be big improvements in the Scenic route generator, including messages when the website receives its update.
