Using other offline maps
-
Hey all,
Got a quick question. I've recently got a DMD T-665 so that I can finally be Garmin free
Obviously it comes with DMD2 software, but mainly I want it so that I can use MRA and I want it to have offline maps. So, to my question - is it possible to point MRA towards using the DMD2 offline maps (or vice versa). It seems daft to have 2 sets of offline maps on the device (not to mention the PITA that is updated all the maps twice), but also, the DMD maps are on the device and the MRA maps are on the SD card.
So is there some way to point MRA so that it reads the maps on the device (the DMD maps) as their base maps?Cheers

@Rob-Kilbourne Unfortunately that is not possible!

Fair enough, thanks for the quick response. Don't suppose it'd work the other way either - pointing DMD to MRA maps?

@Rob-Kilbourne DMD uses the OSM and MRA the Here map.
On that T865X tablet there's space enough on the intern memory that you can load both map sets in the intern memory of the tablet. And on top of that you can insert an SD card on witch you can save the DMD maps. I've done the same and in the settings of the tablet made MRA my default. If I put the tablet in the harness in opens with MRA. I'm a very happy camper -
@Marinus-van-Deudekom Fair enough, maybe that's the way forward, although DMD apparently doesn't play nicely with maps on the SD card. Also, I've got the phone one, not the tablet, so half the onboard storage to the tablet. Maybe I'll give that a go, though
Cheers

Maybe I'll give that a go, though...If you would have place enough on the cockpit or handle bar - the tablet (T865-X) would be the better choice because of 1000 nit instead 600 nit in T665. And the bigger screen, means better readable city- or street names

@Guzzist the new T865X should be 1300 nits

@Guzzist and the phone is 800 nits and the tablet just would not fit - maybe on the Stelvio, but not on the Triumph
