    Hi,

this is just a brief review of the MyRoute App on iPhone while travelling a week through Denmark.

I am still struggling on using and setting up the MyRoute App Navigation, while I still can't see my custom POI's on the map, except going into the route planning, it's hard to set a destination, also search is not returning my custom POI's. It would be handy if search would also include the custom POI's. Because with the system I use for the custom POI's I could easily find my desired navigation, as I start my custom POI's with a three-letter code like PPL or CPG for parking place or campground. But the need to have to go into the route planning is not very user friendly.

I drive a Duster with a tiny camper trailer and use the RV (Motorhome) mode for navigation. As I like to set height, width, and length. I found that the MyRoute App Navigation, set to shortest route (also fastest? - I don't think so, as there is no such option?) is using very narrow streets and even gravel roads, although there are ways to avoid such gravel and narrow streets. and use paved roads. Which is very annoying, is there a better setting?

Sound, not having the ability to use Apple Car play, is tricky, I need to use the phone media connection to my car entertainment system to be able to hear directions by voice, beyond that, depending on the settings of the source like the music app vs. a radio player app, the voice is incredibly quiet. An option to not use Bluetooth (like the Google Maps app has) would be very handy.

Last pain point is that traffic restrictions are not held into consideration because we twice drove into a roadblock because of constructions. Which lead into a longer drive with detours. I have set to use "traffic-conscious route calculation". I don't know why, but can it be that when I don't have internet connection, that the app goes into offline mode? But I would also expect once internet connection is re-established the app would also switch back to online mode for road restrictions and traffic?

Mit freundlichen Gruessen / Met vriendelijke groet / Best regards

    Joerg

      Oh I forgot one point:

By foot: navigating by foot is useless because we never experienced that we had the shortest route. Not only it was not giving directions the shortest way, but also the map was not showing or having pedestrian paths noted. So, navigating by foot we found we better use google maps. Or is there a dedicated overlay to choose for "By Foot" navigation?

Also, the map used by the app while navigation the car seems not to be at the newest version, as we found several times a roundabout, but the app still showed regular crossroads.

@Cookie-On-Tour This makes total sense, since 'navigation' is not possible for cycling or pedestrians because the HERE map does not have data for these movement categories.

The app can be used for walking or cycling but only in the 'Follow the line' method, where you simply open the route by clicking it, and then using the ' arrow' in the bottom right corner to track your location. By looking at the screen and your location, you can manually follow the line.
The map you see when you 'open the route' from the route info screen, is the OSM map, which does have walk-and cycling info! So plan the route in OSM in the online planner, and use this method to "navigate" for walking and cycling.

@Stefan-Hummelink ah okay, we did not plan the trip within the city where we walked by foot. When we left the car, we marked the parking lot as a favourite. We had a few sightseeing locations marked and when done, we wanted to go as fast and shortest back to the car. That was the point where we used By Foot navigating on the fly, without previous planning. We often find ourself doing things without previous planning and want the support of the app 🙂

Regarding the traffic information you might geht them, but you also might not get them, as MRA/HERE can only use what have been reported from other sources. Even in Germany it happens from time to time, that one roadblock is known and MRA routes perfectly around it and others not, as they might not have been reported yet. Specially when you have some pretty dynamic road closures, we don't have an online and central traffic monitoring and reporting.
I personally think, that the MRA Navigation has the feature to incorporate traffic information and a far as theses information are available, it uses them correctly 🙂
