I was wondering what the icon is above the โmy locationโ icon -square box that looks like a TV - but now I think Iโve figured out itโs to view the whole route. -
But while Iโm here, can a route be edited in the Route Planner app, or is it only still possible with Route Lab?

Hell yes! Select a route and on the route info screen click the "Pencil" icon to open the route in the routeplanner for your edits!
