iPhone connected to car via Bluetooth / App sound
-
Hello,
may I kindly ask if I am allowed to make a request for a feature, please?
When my iPhone is connected to my car via Bluetooth all sound is routed to my car, but I can't hear the app sound. It looks like only when the phone-, podcast-, music app or Siri gets activated, the sound of the radio is muted and the sound output of my iPhone (only those apps are played via the car sound system), then I can speak to my iPhone via my car's microphone and hear the counterpart via the sound system of the car too.
I don't know if there is a setting that I can make for any other app, to not use Bluetooth and line out to the build in iPhone speakers? However, Google Maps has a feature to not use Bluetooth speakers for sound. I wish MyRoute-app would also have such a feature. Otherwise, I do not hear any sound of the route adviser unless I disconnect my iPhone from my car's entertainment system, which is bad for taking a phone call.
Many thanks for consideration.
Cheers

That is what the "Suggestions" category is for
I like your suggestion. Indeed in GMaps you can force sound through the phone speakers, and also Flitsmeister has such a feature. Especially in Flitsmeister it is useful, because a warning from a different position draws extra attention.
EDIT:
In the car that is. On a bike that has no real value of course -
Hello Cookie,
hard to understand your explanation, but perhaps to help you.
I have normaly no issue with my iPhone, MRA and CarPlay.
My combinations using MRA is in one sight even more complicate.
On my Ford with Sync4, I hear my own music all the time from USB Stick. In parallel MRA is connected with CarPlay and any guiding instruction for routing interupt my music for this time.
BUT I reported here a problem too.
When I shut down the engine not close MRA stop routing first on restart the CarPlay screen pop up again with MRA but i have no sound from the iPhone regard the instruction, either by the phone nor by the car.
What happened too, CarPlay will not start. There are some problems with MRA and Carplay which I can‘t find a clear trigger. It happen wireless and with cable.
Actually I am on vacation and the last days I use Apple Maps for quick „route me to B“ tasks. No issue with CarPlay connection on the Ford.
Perhaps Sync4 himself is a trigger for the problems with MRA and/with CarPlay. On my second car, a 2016 MB SLC Cabrio I updated the car-entertainment with CarPlay too in 2019 and use a wireless connection with a CarlinKit Dongle. Due to the fact, that the CarlinKit use the only present USB to the Caraudiosystem, I play my music from the iPhone storage (about 4000 titles like I have it on the stick) and use MRA in parallel. Up to now without problems here, but also on my routes with no interrupt yet and the problems on Sync4in the Ford.
On the SLC I will check the situation soon with stop and restart. Finally to shut down sound in Google maps sound, OK, may there are some reasons for special situations, but up to now not on my usages of Navigation over decades.

Hello Peter,
it might be hard for you to understand, because you can use Apple CarPlay, which I don't have
My phone connects directly to my car's hands-free system, which is not CarPlay. I think with CarPlay the sound is routed via CarPlay so you do not have any issues.
But as you can see @Con-Hennekens seems to have the same and knows what I am talking about.
Again, it's all about sound output and the display for my navigation is my iPhone display
Anyways many thanks for chiming in and have a great vacation!Cheers

@Cookie-On-Tour
Sorry, missunderstanding from my site.
Never the less BT Connection with my iPhone to car audio was the standard for me only for phonecalls, never for music on my phone either in the storage nor by any streaming.
Simple reasons, first cost respective volume of free Dataspce from the provider and no streaming contract for music up to now with about 500 CDs in my hand and second battery usage or you need to connect your phone to a 12 to 5 Volt USB poweradapter. And on the stick, I have my music all the time in the car, even when I have my phone not with me and for better sound quality in the car.
Your request now is special for those, who play music and use navigation from the phone via BT to car Audio and an perhaps there is internal conflict of MRA.
For me CarPlay with cable was not an option in the past years. For navigation with route planning I used my garmin or for simple bring me to B the build in Nav-System of my Ford Business cars and the SLC.
Just with wireless CarPlay and the in the basic excellent MRA Next Navigation via CarPlay, the increased free volume for datatraffic there is a change in my mindset tu use my phone for navigation instead of paying for map updates in my cabrio and due to easier usage. -
Peter, I am not talking about music at all, it's just that when you use media with the iPhone the sound comes thru and can be heard, just like with the Podcast app it's just an example, the sound of the MyRoute Next Navi app is not coming thru for any reason, as said. other apps do have an extra setting to not route the sound via Bluetooth, which is what my request is.

@Cookie-On-Tour
so I am out of conversation here, not my usage and application. -
As said my request is for car navigation and of course it should be an optional (setting) feature

How are these requests handled? Do we get a reply or feedback by the product developers?
BTW: I am the "former user", I needed to make some changes to my profile which required a new account as the change was not possible.
