Failure to Navigate after Diversion
-
I rode 200 miles over that weekend and quite some miles through London. At one point there was a diversion due to a Traffic Accident and the App on my I Phone 15 then decided that it could no longer navigate, leaving me 'in the dark'. It restarted to assist me only after many more miles !
Another issue........... I was driving up a dual carriageway, the A40, and the system twice wanted me to come off, up the slip road and then to rejoin the self same road. Not very 'bright' !
Any input will be appreciated, especially the first issue which was very disappointing. -
@John-B-1. I am assuming you are navigating with the MRA App. Your second remark often is the result of navigating with the app, while having your route planned on the OSM map. Plan your route on the HERE map instead.
Your first remark is impossible to understand without any screenshots or description of what you were seeing on your screen.

@Con-Hennekens Thanks Con, I created the Route on my I MAC, using 'HERE' and then transferred to my I Phone. All was working very well UNTIL I deviated off the course due to a Traffic Accident and then a Message displayed to the effect that the System was no longer able to give guidance - I forget the actual Message displayed, so I am sorry that due to being in difficult circumstances, lost in busy London, I was not able to afford myself the luxury of taking photos of the Screen. Later, once back on the Route it started to provide guidance again, albeit wanting to take me off the A40 Dual carriageway, up the slip Road and back on...........
Any expert Advice will be much appreciated. I have lots of Routes planned on your lovely Software for an upcoming European Trip and I want things to go smoothly. -
@John-B-1, no, I understand completely that it is difficult to take screenshots in heavy London traffic. Especially with everyone driving on the wrong side of the road (a joke with a beard, I am guilty...)
I suspect you were driving inline, without offline maps downloaded and no live internet connection (or very bad signal). Is that feasable? In that case the app can not calculate a new route.
Also I noticed (pretty randomly) that the app cannot connect with the online platform after having switched between different networks. Something that is very difficult to pinpoint. In such a case a force close and restart of the app fixes things. But also that takes some fiddling, so best done in a parking space.

@Con-Hennekens Again Con, thanks for your kind input. I wasn't aware of the need to download Maps and have now done so. This could well have been the problem. Yes, driving on the 'wrong' side of the road, which I'm used to was OK, but being lost and in bloody awful traffic and with suicidal Chinese Tourists wanting to fling themselves under my Michelins and with nice Mr Khan's dumb speed limits and cameras everywhere and driving into a low sun, it was a stressful time............. but I survived, although a fine of some sort or another may turn up in due course.........
I'm looking forward to touring France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Italy in May and to using the App, which I think is wonderful. Thanks again. -

Any input will be appreciated, especially the first issue which was very disappointing.I would imagine that this could be because you have a waypoint right in the middle of the intersection which is either under or over the road you really want to take

@Stephen-Rowland Hi Stephen, and thanks for your input. The fact is, I only had one Waypoint between East London and Home in the Cotswolds and that Point was at Burford so there were NO waypoints along the A40, west of London to possibly confuse the System. Luckily I realised this was a nonsensical instruction and ignored it but I am wanting to have confidence in the System when I'm relying on it for my upcoming 2000 miles in Europe.

I hear you brother, Grrrrrr!

Maybe share your route publically so we can have a look? There might be something in there that may help solve the problem. Or maybe not.
But move / remove your house first, of course, for privacy.

@richtea999 The Route was very simple; from essential London City Airport to the second Waypoint, a Shaping Point, in Burford ( c 50 K from London ), to the third and final , Waypoint; my home near Moreton on Marsh.
There were no Waypoints once I left London City Airport before Burford, so there should not have been anything to confuse the System.
