Problem with route containing riverferry
-
Hi.
A part of my route includes a river ferry. The track in OSM and the route for TomTom includes the ferry fine. HERE map, which I use preferred for my Garmin XT, however, does not allow me to include the ferry. It tries to get on a little detour to use a bridge.
I was not able to figure out, why this is. Ferries are allowed in MRA settings.
Thanks! -
The HERE map has problems with ferries (I think it is addressed), just set a way point at the start and end of the ferry and ignore the detour (until HERE fix this).

@Jörgen Hi Jörgen. Thanks for the hint. I'll use this workaround and hope there will be a fix soon.
Cheers

You are replying to a thread from 2023. There is another solution now. In the Toolkit of the TomTom and HERE planning maps you can now choose Route optimisation, as long as your transport mode is not motorcycle, now select the shortest route and the system should use the ferry.

Sorry Nick, but I don't consider this as a fix. We are mainly using this software for motorcycle touring, not for car touring.
-
@Adrian-Avram Don’t shoot the messenger, it’s the map suppliers that dictate the parameters.
-
@Nick-Carthew I know that "here" has a lot of issues to fix ! I highly appreciate all your advice and help on this forum!
-
@Adrian-Avram while Diving a bike you can still use the car profile whitout any issue. I do it all the time
-
@Marinus-van-Deudekom I fully agree. Here in the UK I cannot think of any situation where a motorcycle is treated differently to a car. Corjan has said that the motorcycle transport mode could take a more twisty route compared to car mode, but to be honest, I would include any twisty option in my route when I am planning it anyway.
-
@Nick-Carthew not more twisty
Specifically a literal sharp corner.
Turn radius of motorcycle is minimal compared to car allowing the route to take sharper corners is very rare situations -

Is er een manier om dit als standaard in te stellen? En zo ja, hoe? Bij nieuwe routes staat het bij mij standaard op snelste!
Is there any way to set this as default? And if so, how?
On new routes, my default is fastest!
