@Nick-Carthew, I'm another case of this same problem, observing it already for many weeks.
I don't know if you are aware of that the indicator is not only lagging from 0 up to more than 100m but is can also be positioned several 10s of meters of the actual road (like somewhere in a garden or field, but even in houses).
Attached a couple of observed cases on my Samsung S23.
