I have been using Tyre for years and MyRouteApp for.perhaps the last three but am now using MyRouteApp as my goto navigation planning software tool.

I arrange two three to four week tours each year and plan all the routes, stops, hotels or campsites along the way for clients or friends.

The routes are pretty detailed as is the documentation I include along with the final route files.

I use viapoints and shaping points and have done for years as this forces different models and makes of GPS to stick to key roads and not take shortcuts (especially on circular routes).

I loved TYRE and found it easy to use, intuitive and functional.

MyRouteApp is more modern, has a nicer feel about it, has more additional functions attached such as this forum, expert routes etc. but is less intuitive and therefore more complicated.

The interface is cleaner than TYRE and I love the tidy interface to store all the routes. Very tidy and easy to use plus, I can access routes from any device given that they are in the cloud.

I do miss the ability to have more than one route available at any time which allows me to copy viapoints from one day to the next with ease.

I also hate the way that MyRouteApp appears to automatically save a route rather than asking before saving and advisong that the route has changed do you want to overwrite?

Overall, an obviously better, cleaner product with additional functionality.

I am slowly saving favourites to replace those I had on Tyre and will be looking at the Experts trips for some ideas for a route through Finland to Nordkapp - something I did not have access to before.

I should really share more widely some of the trips I have done with the community - I shall look into this over the winter.

Overall, a great product and this forum is excellent for the fact that it is a route into the developers to improve it.

So, goodbye TYRE and hello MyRouteApp!
