No just gpx 1.1 (track and poi) is fine.
Create the route on the TT map because BMW uses the TT map on the TFT

@spili Late comer...I use the BoomBox pre 2019 format. This gives a waypoint map that includes your waypoints in the order you created them. Any others either get mixed up or don't show as editable waypoints in the Connected Map once imported.
Import as Waypoints...not route. The route must be followed exactly and will tell you to go back if you miss a waypoint.

Hi Hans am i correct in thinking the bmw tft connected app uses tom tom mapping but the bmw navigator vi uses garmin mapping

Can somenone give me some feedback concerning the use of MyRoute app in combination with the navigation system on the BMW1250 RT (with TFT connected to an Iphone)

1. TT maps only ?
2. is the BMW system stable? using WIFI /BT connections?
3. Are the most commun charts (EU) available ? Limitations for the Iphone memory?
4. What is the best method for the importation of the routes?
5. Other experiences + or -

BMW uses the TomTom map for the TFT screen
Connect phone via BT
But a route in the MRA Planner on the TomTom map (best result, after all the maps used match)
Save the route as...gpx 1.1 (Track, POI) on your phone or email the route to you as gpx 1.1 (Track, POI)
If the route is on your phone, add it to the BMW connected app and start the route (Your phone must be connected to your BMW)

The BMW R1250RT uses BT and its own (stable) WiFi environment between the motorcycle and the smartphone. (with the GS's that is BT only)
All maps of the world are available for download. And you can choose which region you need on your smartphone. When downloading, you will see how much space is available on your smartphone. For example, if you download the whole of Europe, that's 2.59Gb. But you can also download per country.

thanks for the info. I want to make sure (prior buying a new BMW1250RT) that the navigation system of the BMW TFT works properly - I am a classic user of the Garmin System and I have heard some negative feedback

I test drove the BMW R1250RT for about 500 km. With the BMW Connected app.
I am a Garmin user (many years) just like you.
The BMW connected system is beautiful in combination with the map on the TFT screen of the BMW.
But it's a TomTom............. And (classic) Garmin users have to get used to using TomTom. I find that very difficult
