@spili Late comer...I use the BoomBox pre 2019 format. This gives a waypoint map that includes your waypoints in the order you created them. Any others either get mixed up or don't show as editable waypoints in the Connected Map once imported.
Import as Waypoints...not route. The route must be followed exactly and will tell you to go back if you miss a waypoint.

@chris-43 I use Onedrive as a save location which I can access from any device. you can use any storage however as long as it is in the cloud.
If you have R1250 TFT (directions and map) you should save it as a Boombox pre 2019 file. Then import it as the waypoints...not the route.
This enables full flexibility with your waypoints, including being able to add on the run or skip.
I have found any other option just gives me a overall trip that I cannot edit. -
