Sharing routes via Friends settings or Group
-
We’re a group of car enthusiasts who get together for drives from time to time, organizing around 6–9 trips each year. I’d like to share our full route library (from 2020 to now) with the group.
However, we prefer to keep our routes private. Currently, I’ve set up folders for each year and limited access to “Friends.” The downside is that I need to add many people individually to my account.
Alternatively, I’ve tried using the Group feature and duplicated the same folder structure there so members can access the routes. The drawback of this approach is that all members can also add their own routes to the group.
In your opinion, what’s the better setup:
Using “Friends” in my personal library (with more access management), or
Using a Group (with some ongoing cleanup)?

Hello @ron-33 ,
If you want to share routes with a select group of people, I would recommend using a Group. You can create it as a Private Group and invite your friends to join. Just make sure they all have an MRA account. Once they accept the group invitation, the routes will only be accessible to them. But.....
You can also create an event and invite the group. -
I'm in a similar situation.

Hey @ron-33 ,
Do it directly with the Friends function, that has advantages.
1.) you are master of your routes
2.) you can change without having to upload an update in the group again.
3.) Info etc. then by mail
Disadvantage of a group:
1.) you always have to upload changes again and delete old ones
Idea:
Do it via event, it takes some getting used to but has advantages I think. To do this, you should read the instructions in the Web Planner manual

@Ron-33 interesting workaround,
saves all the hassle of copying/updating routes in a Group & gets around maintaining a large friends list plus still allows sharing of the route to those with the link, well solved
