Drive app fails to send GPX file - again...

The connection from MRA android app to Drive has worked consistently for me for several years. I'm downloading to a Zumo XT using GPX 1.1. Now it works very intermittently. Earlier problems seemed to be related to a specific version of the Drive app. The version installed now is 4.28.14.
Cable connection to my Win11 machine still seems to work, but the Drive app is about 1 out of 5 attempts. No error message. File is downloaded from MRA, I select open with Drive, the Drive app opens but does not send the file.
Same result using File Manager on the phone. Select the GPX file, open with Drive, the Drive app opens, but does not acknowledge the file, and does not send it to the Garmin, even though the XT is connected to the Drive app, and show that in the Garmin main screen and in the Drive app.
Open to suggestions. I have tried GPX 1.1 and 1.2, uninstalled and re-installed the Drive app. Not sure what else to try.

The 4.28.14 update hit on August 13. A friend of mine is having problems with the Tread app (XT2/XT3) which was also updated about the same time in August. Coincidence?? Maybe. But I'd call Garmin Support to check it out.

@John-S-Parry Thanks for that, I may also try replacing the app with an older version. I have learned how to instruct the PlayStore app NOT to automatically update all installed apps.

It probably won’t help, but I have similar problems from time to time.
Same app version and a Zumo XT. Most recently, at the weekend, I tried to send a route to the Zumo via the Drive app. The app says it’s transferring a route, but the progress bar didn’t move.
Incidentally, it didn’t matter whether the route came from MRA or Kurviger.
Once I got back home and switched the Zumo back on, three routes were transferred straight away, just as normal. So it’s definitely not down to MRA, but rather the interaction between the Drive app and the Zumo.
For me, though, it’s not 1 in 5 – more like 1 in 2. -
I had a bad experience yesterday morning, having sent my route to Drive in the usual way only to have Explore intercept the route and corrupt it.
This was the last thing that I needed, standing on the driveway, at 5AM, in the dark about to set off to be let down like that.
Luckily, I knew where I was going, but no waypoints for the destinations was hard enough but my planned fuel stops went right out the window, as a Scot it would have hurt me to play Motorway prices for fuel!
No doubt, I will now be forced to learn Explore, which seems so counter intuitive to use... I miss Basecamp.I've just discovered another thread in this Forum and going back to the previous version of Drive. I'll give that a try.
The thought struck me that Garmin are "shooting themselves in the foot" by implementing improvements that make things worse. Ultimately making the decision easier to buy a tablet device and ditch the Zumo XT entirely.

@Wallace-Shackleton Was this a problem with Explore and Drive on an Android device? I removed Explore from my phone some time ago due to problems like this.

@Don-Stauffer no, this was due to a bad Drive App update for only Android a few days ago.

It appears that the latest update to Garmin Drive has re-established the connection to the Explore app without asking, bringing with it all the known issues.
A possible solution is to install an earlier version of Drive and disconnect the Zumo from the Explore app.
A detailed description (in German only) can be found here.This worked perfectly for me and I can now send routes and tracks again.

If you use the connector to transfer your routes to the Zumo, the routes are transferred correctly. Garmin is really moving towards using tracks; however, you can still add your waypoints to the track within Explore.garmin.
Currently, the connector only works on a Windows PC; hopefully, it will work on Apple PCs again with the new website. -

Currently, the connector only works on a Windows PC; hopefully, it will work on Apple PCs again with the new website.@Kobutex-Motorreizen I think the discussion about the MRA – Garmin Drive – Garmin Zumo issue is more relevant when you’re out and about, and less so when you’re sitting at your computer at home. In that case, the connector is, of course, an alternative.

Unfortunately, true. The only 100% guaranteed safe transfer choice is wired GPX file copy directly into the Garmin/GPX folder in the device. Preferably on an SD card. It is a little more work, but worth the effort.

Garmin Drive works perfectly for me when it comes to tracks and routes, now that I’ve replaced the latest version, v4.29.25, with the older v4.28.14.
