Carpuride/Chigee

Re: Carpuride 702BS
Hi,
Does anyone know whether the BMW wonder wheel is able to zoom yet on the Carpuride 702BS (or Chigee or any other alternative)?
Also, what advantages are there to using Android Auto, as opposed to simply letting MRA run on your phone directly to the Carpuride/Chigee?
For information, I've never used one of these "dumb" screens before, having used a Carpe Iter until now. My CI V4b is quite good but underpowered and I'm wondering whether to upgrade to a new CI Careta or take an easier option of a Chigee/Carpuride that will slot straight into the Nav prep on my new R1300GS.
Thanks.

Buy something good from Carpe-iter the Careta if you really want to use it for direct zooming and skipping WP. Carpe-iter has yes for zooming and especially on buttons, a BMW adapter ..
On the pure Carplay or Android Auto displays you have to cumbersomely switch to +/- zooms, so not to compare with it.
I only use an iPhone Xr mobile phone in the BMW Cratel plus the Remotek One BT keyboard, it also goes directly with it, but it is a mobile phone solution, and with the Cateta also not to compare.

@Hubert-Thoring Many thanks for your reply - useful to know.

To do this, see MRA the input setting

And in the MRA manual under MyRout app
- Bluetooth controller

Thanks, again, Hubert.
Actually, I have been using the bmw controller with my CI v4b these last 2 years. And, last weekend, I spoke with the Carpe Iter guy at the UK’s Adventure Bike Rider show. He said it was better not to use the one marked “bmw control” but to use the ordinary Carpe Iter input option. As I have already stripped my CI fittings from my old bike, I haven’t been able to test that yet. -

Samsung S21I was almost happy with the setup. But this year, I had several issues where the app froze during navigation.
I really loved the zooming functionality using the Wonderwheel.
In my opinion, the screen was simply too small. So I started looking for an Ultra model (larger display), but I couldn’t find a used one that was cheaper than a Carpuride W702BS.
In the end, I bought the Carpuride and took it with me on our 15‑day bike holiday.
NextApp is running on an iPhone 17 Pro Max.Summary
Using CarPlay:- The big screen is great — I really like it.
- Zooming with the physical button is terrible. It’s not useful at all.
- Using NextApp via CarPlay is not as comfortable as using it directly on Android or iPhone.
Once or twice a day, the screen froze and turned completely white. Only the menu was still visible. I had to restart both the Carpuride and the iPhone app. After that, it worked again.
My passenger also used the iPhone to take photos. Maybe using the phone for both navigation and photography was too much and caused the freezes.
Day 12: The Carpuride mount broke. I had to secure it with cable ties.
Best thing would be CarpIter with iPhone, but IOS is not supported by CarpIter BMW Controller.
Greetings, Roland
