Custom Avoidances
-
Hi all. What is the chance that we'll get custom avoidances in the route planner? In Basecamp for example, you can select areas or roads to exclude when creating a route. This is a super helpful feature that'd be really great to see here.

When creating a route by hand, isn’t it easiest to just avoid the places don’t want to go through and / or miss out roads you don’t want to take?
Or, are you asking the route planner to spit out an A to be route from say, London to Norwich but avoiding Bishops Stortford and Cambridge?

@Richard-18 Sort of both. I have a Zumo XT2 and what I like about its routing feature is the ability to avoid sections of roads or entire areas. Sure, I can manually move the track to avoid a section of road or an area, but I really like the ability to say "hey, avoid this area for the time being". It's a handy feature.

@Richard-18 I understand your point, but sometimes it is really handy to have this custom avoidances thing in place. Depending on where you are riding, you might have more or lesse long term roodworks or road closures and deviation on very small routes where you don't get the information about them from any other source then your personal exprience. Riding a lot on ver small roads, I normally have no chance that a closure of one of these small roads is incorporated with some general traffic information, which normally knows about road closures.
Here it is really handy to define a custom "no-go area" for your trips. -
I'm trying to go from 7 to 8 without taking that huge loop to the north. In Basecamp I would simply create a custom avoidance on that northern loop. How do I solve it in MRA? I've played around with different positions of 7 and 8 and with different maps, to no avail.

@colin-irvine Perhaps there are works on that stretch? If you have the Gold version and turn on the “traffic layer,” you can see that roadworks are indicated on Caddenfoot Rd. Maybe they still affect Cliff Rd.? By the way, if you tick “Disable seasonal closures” in the Toolkit menu, you can see that the route does go via that road.
