cant use app just to view map when riding

So went out for a ride today. I wasn't leading and had no route planned, but just wanted to see where we were going. In landscape and portrait on i phone I could not get rid of the " where to, what you want, favourites , previous routes menu" etc. No matter how many times I tried to swipe down or left , the bar would not allow me to just view the bloody map. How annoying.![alt text]( how do i just ride and view the map?

The free trip we will come back soon, currently just take a route, preferably a short one. Then start the navigation and longer firmly press on navigation. Then the menu will be almost completely gone and you can follow the road from its current location. Have fun. VG

Watching as I have the same question. The ability to minimise/hide the menu in order to just use the map with no navigation would be great. Like it used to be.
