      I tried to post a question regarding this issue earlier but I kept getting a "Forbidden" issue so I hope that this will go through. I'm using the MRA Android app with the DMD T865X 8" tablet, so my observations may only apply to this particular situation.

      With this configuration, if you select Navigation Settings - Audio the default TTS engine is the Google com.google.android.tts and you can select any one of a number of voices from the selections offered.

      BUT.... THEY DON'T WORK. It doesn't matter which voice that you select, you're still going to hear the same default female voice.

      But here's the good news.... the voice in MRA is determined by the default operating system voice, and it can be changed.

      Here's how:

      1. Go to your Android settings and search for "Text-to-speech output" (you won't have to type it all in, but that's what your looking for).

      2. Select that option, then select the gear icon beside "Preferred engine"

      3.Select "Install voice data"

      1. Select your language. In my case it was "English (United States)

      5.You'll see a selection of voices which you can hear by pressing the play button on the right side of the screen.

      1. When you find the voice that you prefer, select it on the left side of the screen

      At this point the voice in MRA on your device will be set to the system's default voice that you just selected (at least on the DMD T865X).

      Steve

        @Steve-Jarrell
        I can confirm the same behaviour.
        Once I managed to change the voice in the app itself. However, the next time I started it, the default voice was heard again.

        It wasn't important enough for me so far, although I like an announcement with a lower voice pitch better. Unfortunately, the wonderful female voice with a slight French accent that made travelling with the Tomtom Rider from 2013 so much fun is no longer available.

        @Steve-Jarrell
        Ich kann dasselbe Verhalten bestätigen.
        Einmal ist es mir gelungen, die Stimme auch in der App selber zu ändern. Beim nächsten Start war aber wieder die default Stimme zu hören.

        Mir war es bisher nicht wichtig genug, obwohl mir eine Ansage mit tieferer Stimmlage besser gefällt. Die wunderbare weibliche Stimme mit leicht französischem Akzent, die mir das Reisen mit dem Tomtom Rider von 2013 versüsste, gibt es leider nicht mehr.
