Banners and Notifications on the iPhone screen

Would there any way to disable Banners and Notifications on the iPhone screen while navigating. If there was a way to bring the navigation screen to focus and not allow Banners and Notifications to be displayed.
It annoyed me for a long time, specially when my wife and daughter start to text. The Banners come one after another, cover the top of the screen, and - of course - this happens very often just before an exit, turn, etc., and getting read of the Banners by sliding the screen may put rider in danger.
Disabling notifications on the iPhone before navigation would be very cumbersome.
Any ideas. -

In iOS, you can set a focus mode through the settings. There, you can configure it so that, for example, you don't receive WhatsApp notifications while driving.
