Car play no sound for directions

Hi, Am currently using MRA pre planned routes for a trip around europe in a car. I have MRA (iphone) connected to car and car play and I have BBC sounds as second app playing music. When I arrive at any feature (not waypoints) where instructions are given by the MRA then the music mutes but no sound or direction given by MRA, once I pass the feature, the music returns. I’ve tried spotify and same happens. Obviously both apps are working together but I have no idea why MRA doesn’t give voice prompt. If I remove the music app then MRA works. Have I missed something in settings?? This is for car but have a bike trip coming ip and could do with understanding the issue.

With my Iphone each app has its own volume setting. Make sure when the MRA app is talking that you turn the volume up. So music can be one volume while MRA can be at a different volume. Or make sure the app isn't muted. Just has this issue with Apple Maps and didn't know that was the cause.
