    Hello from Germany,
My name is Thomas and I have been involved in navigation for what feels like over 25 years. I started with a Garmin V and then various Garmins up to the current zumo xt.

I stuck with Mapsource for a long time when Basecamp was already available, but at some point I switched.
I know that Basecamp has a bad reputation with many people, but I get on very well with it and have also used the various Garmin software tools to plan and manage motorcycle trips professionally for 15 years.

Now that I'm a “privateer” and have more time to ride my own motorcycle, I've been looking for a replacement for Basecamp.
My focus is currently on managing the many POIs, routes and tracks that have accumulated over time.
I bought the full MRA package a few days ago and am now trying to get to grips with it with my Garmin head
I've learned a lot on YouTube, especially from Jürgen's great videos, but there are a few things I haven't yet understood or found.
A lot of text for an introduction, so this should suffice for now.

    Viele Grße
    Thomas

    Freundliche Grüße/Kind regards/Met vriendelijke groeten

            Hi @Thomas-Schäfer, welcome.
I'm similar to you and I only came to MRA a few weeks ago. In the meantime, I've made friends with it completely.

            Many beautiful tours with MRA.

              Hi Thomas!

Welcome to this really great community 🙂
Sometimes we also have some kind of "disagreement" within our wonderful international community, but much less, then you usefully have in forums like this 🙂

As my name is also Thomas I can't resist:
We don't know when, bit sometime a Thomas will rule the world 🙂

Hello and thank you for the warm welcome,

I'm currently riding my motorcycle in Scotland and have enough time in the evenings at the B&B to do some practicing.

As I said, my initial focus is on the management functions of MRA, not yet on planning.

In Basecamp, I created a folder for each country and then a folder for each trip in which I managed POIs, planned routes and completed tracks.

I have understood that this is not possible in MRA, as there is a main area for routes and a main area for track logs.

So I will have to create one folder under Routes and one under Tracklogs for this trip to Scotland, right?

                Second question for tonight.
My zumo xt generates quite a few partial tracks during the day, which of course belong together. In Basecamp there is the function “merge tracks”. How do I do this in MRA?

And one last question about tracks.
When I upload tracks, they always end up in the root directory, even if I have already created a Tracklogs/Scotland/Scotland 2024 directory.

This is quite inconvenient, as I have to move each track to its correct folder again. Are there plans to change this so that you can specify the destination folder when uploading?

Have a nice evening and best wishes from the island of Lewis

                  Hi Thomas!

I am not yet a real professional with MRA, but just to give you an idea what is possible in the future if you use the full scope of MRA:
I f you setup your trip as event in MyRoute-APP your Tracklogs will be uploaded automatically into it 🙂
Unfortunately, but -at least for me -acceptable as I fully migrate to the MyRoute-app platform including the myRoute-app Next Navigation.

Different question: How is the weather in Schottland atm? I might select Schottland for ms next years main-holidays 🙂
This year Norway is already set and planned 🙂

                  Greetings

                    Hello Tom,
but that is only the case if you also use the MRA app.
I deliberately continue to use my zumo xt, at least on longer trips, even though I have already tried a few smartphone-based navigation apps.

In Germany anyway, and especially here on the remote islands, there are always areas without decent network coverage and I haven't found the outdoor smartphone for me yet.

The weather here is probably better than in Germany at the moment. High fog in the morning, sometimes light rain, but it doesn't last long and between 12 and 16 degrees. So summer by local standards.

                    Greetings
