      Hi,
Has anyone on here tried importing a gpx file, created in the navigation app Scenic, then importing into Tom Tom via MRA ?

          @Marinus-van-Deudekom thanks for your reply.
I can import the files, but when I use them, they make no sense.
Tomtom tells me to go right, my mates go left. Tomtom tells me to go left, my mates go right

maybe sygic gpx is a track, try also track import. i know from routeyou if you import as a route it is chaos but as track it goes well. you loose the waypoints.

                Thanks all for the input.
May be pilot error on my part, but obviously needs more work.

@Iain-Cochrane-0, We have seen multiple instances of GPX routes in which the waypoints get hustled. Maybe that's what you are seeing? If could share or point to a download location of the specific GPX, I could try to simulate.

The way I handle the import of "foreign" GPX files:

                  • upload the GPX as a route
                  • upload the GPX file as a route-track
                  • edit the resulting route
                  • add the track to the route
                  • if necessary re-order the waypoints
                  • check if the route follows the track completely
                  • where necessary add or move waypoints to make the route follow the track
                  • if you want to make the route suitable for TT as well as Garmin, use the compare toolkit option to make the equal

@Con-Hennekens Hi, thanks very much for your input here. I was just about ready to give up, but your ideas might save the day.
When I go to import a route on MRA I get three options:

                    Route

                    Route - track

                    Tracklog

All my imports have been using the Route option, but maybe that's where I am going wrong.

I tried to send you one of the routes we were using, but I was told I dont have these privileges.

Is there any way round that ?

                    Cheers,

                    Iain.

@Iain-Cochrane-0, Thanks for sending the files. The files contain a track, a route with to my taste not enough waypoints, and something Sygic calls "Garmin Extension" but exists solely out of start and finish points.

                        5d94855a-8f9c-4218-baf3-8e708a17c70f-image.png

For Day1 The route follows exactly the track, so all should be good.
                        Day2 is another story:

                        68e49a67-5f4a-432a-be27-85028bcec559-image.png

It looks like from WP4 the track goes to 7 and then to 18. It does not look like a tracklog though (with the usual imperfections). I don't know if this looks like what you experienced, but if some in the group drive the track, and other the route, it is bound to be different indeed. The route in this case looks to be the intended shape, and it looks like the track is a leftover from an early planning stage or something... I have no explanation, except that the do not conform to each other.

@Con-Hennekens thanks Con, that kind of makes sense to me, albeit a wee bit technical for a luddite like me. I thought the same about the waypoints, or the lack of them, but the others seemed to get on ok.
I've asked him to create me another route using his Scenic app, that I can use here locally, and play about with routes/tracks.
But thanks again for your input.

@Iain-Cochrane-0, you're welcome. A pitty that I cannot be of more help 😉
