Maybe a really stupid question.....but are there any "avoid" or "prefer" options?

So I feel I must be missing something here, but I can't seem to find any way in Web, iPad or iPhone versions of MRA to tell it to either avoid or prefer different road types.

For example, "avoid motorways", "avoid tolls", "avoid unpaved roads", "prefer curvy roads".....

Am I missing something obvious here or do I need to add loads of waypoints to keep a route off the A26 from Calais down to Reims ?

Yes, that is possible. Open a route and go to toolkit, avoid and select or deselect your preferences.

@Reinhard-32 Thanks - but when I open Toolkit (at the top right of the map), under "Routing Options" I can just check or uncheck "Offroad". If I check "Offroad" I just get a straight line routing.

Then I have "Route Utilities" - with expand, reduce, reverse, split, compare and fit options.

Then "Editor Settings" with waypoint name, place waypoint and transparency options.

That's it. I'm not seeing any routing preferences.....

@Alasdair-Denton-Miller Hi Alasdair, probably you are using the OpenStreetMaps map algorithm. As it seems the OSM does not offer these functionalities as it is the free map algorithm.

Are you a gold member? If so, you better change the map algorithm to either TomTom or Here. That option to change the map algorithm is right next to the toolkit menu button. The route tools such as expand, split etc. are only available to for use by Gold members. Seeing them does not mean being able to use them, that's why My question about you being a gold member.

Looks like it's a "Gold" issue - I am indeed using the OSM map and am not a Gold member (yet)....

You can use the Garmin or the TomTom map as Gold member only.

and then you will have the full functionality
