99.9999% faultless navigation in 4 countries.

I have just completed a mini tour from the south west of England then through France, Belgium and into the Netherlands and then back again. The 7 routes had a total distance of 1080 miles and were all navigated offline. I only had one very minor hiccup, a via point (number 36) was not registered as being passed so consequently the app tried sending me back to pass it. I quickly overcame this by manually skipping it.
This is a positive post really and maybe shouldn’t be in the bug section but I would like to know (if possible) why RP36 was not registered. It was marking the border from Belgium to France and it was in wide open countryside so a good satellite signal was virtually guaranteed and the via point is accurately positioned. Here’s the route:

@Nick-Carthew Very happy to hear you had a good experience!
There were some previous reports about accidental waypoint misses. This is still under investigation. Luckily it doesn't happen often and can be easily corrected by the user

I should have added that I had no problem with excessive battery usage or overheating.
-
@Nick-Carthew Curious. How are you charging? Wireless or cable?
-
@Dave-J-0 On this occasion it was cable but I also don’t suffer with excessive battery usage when connected to my Quadlock wireless base either. iPhone 11.
-
@Nick-Carthew Thank you. Interesting. I will be able to test more myself when I pick up my new bike this Thu. Using SP Connect Plus wireless mount.
-
@Nick-Carthew was this via point may be at a point where the map changes from one country to another?
-
@Nick-Carthew During the outward journey, you passed right by my village ️
-
@Jörgen Yes, it was marking the border from Belgium to France. But I also had 3 other via points that marked country borders and they registered perfectly.
-
@Bart-DM Didn’t you see me waving

@Nick-Carthew said in 99.9999% faultless navigation in 4 countries.:

So a glitch in the matrix.

@Nick-Carthew, were you tracking at the time that happened? Then you can overlay the track on the route to see if you really HIT that point.
I have been experiencing similar and very structurally on one specific waypoint in my route to work (I know where I work, but it's for testing purposes ) But I am almost certain it happens only in online mode, not in offline mode. I had to pause my testing however, because of roadworks I am driving another route to work.
That problem is discussed here:

@Con-Hennekens There is a small discrepancy between tracklog and route line but no more than others on the route.
There was a slightly larger discrepancy at RP4 but it caused no problems.
-
@Nick-Carthew No but I saw you looking at my bike
-
@Nick-Carthew, yes, I am confident that the issue is not because of those small discrepancies indeed. I was confident however, after many tests, that the issue only occurred while navigating online... Maybe I need to reconsider. In a few weeks my usual route will be maintenance free again, so I hope to continue my testing.

Can’t resist another Tiger Photo.
