Myrouteapp with Harley Boom Box GTS 6.5
-
Hello bikers
We have been driving routes with the Harley Electra Glide for more than 3 years now. Since then I have been struggling again and again with the way which variant of creation and storage for this navigation system is safe and also works without errors.
I use the Open Street Map as the map. When saving, I usually use the *.gpx (Route,Track,POI) variant, or try the HD Boom Box 2019 (Track) variant.
Doesn't really matter... the navigation system sometimes does what it wants 2 weeks ago we were traveling towards Bavaria/Austria/Czech Republic. If I had driven by GPS, we would still be driving a circuit in Bavaria today!!! The navigation system does not follow the desired route and creates its own paths...
What experiences have you had with the Boom Box in the meantime?
Thanks for your help and tips.Werni

@Büeler To begin with, I am not familiar with the Boom Box. However, I know that devices like Garmin use the Here map for navigation and TomTom devices uses the TomTom map. Therefore, it is always important to create the route using the map that the Boom Box uses for navigation.
If the map provider for the Boom Box is different from OSM, and the navigation algorithm of the Boom Box is based on that specific map provider, it is possible that the route you planned in OSM may appear differently on the Boom Box. One thing you should definitely do to follow a pre-made route is to disable the recalculation of routes on the Boom Box. I believe that can be done.
Perhaps another experienced Boom Box user might have additional comments. -

Although you are only asking for experiences using the BoomBox navigation, I hope the following information is of some use to you anyway:
The Harley BoomBox works with maps from NavTeq.
NavTeq is Here. So if you have created a route with the Open Street Map, it can/will deviate during navigation.
If you work with the Open Street Map, it is better to only load the track in the BoomBox.
In order to get the least deviations when driving, it is best to work with the Here map while planning. But that's a Gold option. -

Hello friends
thank you for your tips. Now, i create the same route with the Harley Rout Planer, and save it as GPX-File to the Boom Box.
I drive the route befor i go with maybee 15 Bikers behind me, because it is not nice to return every 5 minutes...
And i habe updated the Systemsoftware and the Map of Europe.Let me see what's going on.
Thanks
