Off line maps update
-
IoS map install started but then stalled and now appears to be stuck.
Android seems to be downloading but (unlike IoS) is not ticking off countries. As I have never installed maps on an Android phone before, I have no idea if this is ‘normal’?
-
Android has now flashed up that MyRoute isn’t responding. That can only be to the map update. I’ll leave it.
-
'm having the same problem with my android device. Getting the message "A map update is mandatory before you can continue. It is recommended to use Wi-Fi when downloading maps". Current v.83 New v.88. I'm clicking on the yellow 'Download update' box but nothing is happening? This is preventing me from using offline maps.

Offline maps update, nothing happen on Andriod V4.
Is the Server may be busy?
When I click on update (what is needed before you can do anything else) nothing happen.Same here, iPhone 8s, started yesterdy evening, still downloading maps.

I left my iPhone and Android phones both running overnight.
Both have downloaded one or two maps and then given up.
I have now deleted both the app’s, simply to stop then trying to download the maps.

@Corjan-Meijerink Seeing the progress of the download would be a major improvement I think because we are waiting but do not know whether the download is ongoing or doesn’t download…. it’s a little bit frustrating… (I use iPhone 14).

I used this statement. It works.
As an experiment only:
A. I deleted the app from my iPhone
B. I set the phone’s Auto-Lock to Never
C. I selected the whole of Europe (16 gb)
D. I went to bed
Overnight, everything was installed.
Will I ever need the whole of Europe? No.
Thank you for the advice, Corjan.

@Richard-18 that’s a fun experiment
Quite an intensive download! Glad it all worked.

I agree, an intensive download and quite fun.
I like following statements and advice on the forum, experimenting to see if I can do it for myself, as it helps me understand how things work, rather than just shouting at my phone and an app….. who can’t hear me anyway
If nothing else, I know I cannot break the app, so experimenting is quite safe.
If I had one additional piece of advice, it would be: Be patient. The map installation is not particularly fast. Just leave the phone and app to do their thing. In other words, don’t start a map installation, 10 seconds before you want to fire up your motorbike and ride off.

@Richard-18 nothing to add! I share all your thoughts

@Richard-18 just a warning, the next map update is going to take a long time. The more maps you have loaded the longer an update takes.

@Jörgen, I am afraid I share your experience somewhat. I found that while downloading maps, sometimes the bandwidth usage simply stops, despite being able to browse the internet (so proven okay connection). Simply force closing the app and re-initiate the download makes it fast as a rocket...
Development is trying to get their brains wrapped around this, but it seems to originate from the HERE maps service.

After three attempts yesterday and another four attempts this morning, each with a restart of the app, it finally worked to download 1G.
But this must be improved, no matter from which side.
As testers, we are aware of the situation, which can be so frustrating for new customers. They don't know a possible solution and will report angrily about the app. -

Then we, as "insiders," can try to defuse the newcomer's anger...

This problem shouldn't have made it into the production release though.

@Matt-Flaming
My personal experience is very different to yours.
