Today I went riding a route and of course used Next as my guide. I am already quite accustomed to MRA, bit this is my first ride this year, using my BT helmet set. So, connected everything, my helmet says "Phone connected" and off we go. But... no guidance! While stopping to check things, I heard a very faint voice telling me where to go. Turned up the volume on my phone, turned up the volume on my headset and off again. But... No guidance! What the heck! My friend was frontman today, so no big deal. During the coffee break I checked everything again and.... The wrong phone was connected to my headset... 😬

      Now, my suggestion:
When switching off/on the voice guidance in the settings, can some test sentence be produced please? That keeps people from heaving to pull over to set things right. So we don't need to wait for the next guidance to hear if it's okay.

Another option would be to repeat the last guidance sequence when you tap the "Next action" icon on the screen:

        Hahahaha!

+1 to your suggestions regarding the audible check by sounding a guidance command.

          Hahaha, that's hilarious 🙂
Not really sure what our opinion is about this but we will definitely discuss it! Not something with a very high priority at this moment 😉

A bit of self-mockering keeps things in perspective 😉

Yes, but perhaps also an easy thing to do? 🙏

@Con-Hennekens I totally agree with that!
En yes, very easy to do! But I'm not sure if we want it 😉

Obviously people want to turn it off so that's yet another setting.
And if you really want to know if your phone is correctly connected to your headset, just look at your phone. So is it really the responsibility of the app to inform users?

Just some random thoughts and therefore we'll let it sink in and discuss it a bit more 🙂

@Corjan-Meijerink, I understand, but maybe my funny comment threw the question off a bit.

Of course it is anyone's own responsibility to connect things correctly. What I am aiming at with my request is to have a method to set the loudness of the voice guide while standing still, preventing that people are going to adjust that while riding. I think it is a safety issue. You cannot set the loudness of the voice if there is no voice, can you? Besides, concerning my second option, why would anyone want that to switch that off? You simply don't tap that area if you don't want the voice guidance to repeat. I don't think it needs to be user-switchable at all. But I would settle for the first option as well.

You told earlier that there will be a selectable voice, and probably some more voice settings. My guess is that there will be introduced an extra menu for that? If so, please give that menu a test-button. Small request, great for safety.

I fully agree with you that the amount of options should not get out of hand indeed. Some options should be there "by design". Not everything MUST be switchable. Especially if it's a bout safety.

@Con-Hennekens I support this idea, simply "test" button somwhere in the options menu would be ok, especially when we can have many different connections - headphone, carplay etc.

A test button in the voice configuration is definitely ok! 🙂 You would want to hear the different presets / volume levels / output devices anyway there!

@Corjan-Meijerink Excellent! With a Sena headset you can only set the volume of voice guidance when the satnav is actually speaking to you. I expect other systems are the same. When you are stationary there are usually no voice instructions and it is not safe to set the volume on the move. So setting the volume becomes a matter of trial & error and sometimes just luck - it can be frustrating. To have the ability to test and set the voice volume in Settings would be great, and it would be a refinement that not many other satnavs have. A really good idea Con Hennekens!

But I have to be honest: it is not entirely my idea. I have seen this before in another App, can't remember which one, I tried many. Also iirc my Zumo speaks a test sentence if you switch to another voice. So switch and switch back does more or less the same.
