@Bill-Stephens said in Favourites: @Makro Hii am more thinking about pre marking potential places to visit Well that's simply creating Favorites prior to leaving home, isn't it? You can do that in the WEB planner (import favorites or create routes)

@Mike-Evans-1 Mike like you I am or now was a Basecamp user and very proficient in the use of it. I've had MRA for 2-3 years but only used it as a backup for the garmin satnav... This week and seeing as the Zumo XT2 isn't officially supported in Basecamp I thought I'd have a delve into MRA. I must admit it really is an excellent piece of kit and will definitely be my go to. Basecamp will be assigned to the digital cemetry in the sky..

@Carl-Taylor-0 said in Rotterdam to Switzerland: Hello Andre, Thank you for the your reply. Yes you're absolutely right, I've never visited the Alps previously at all. I'm very much looking forward to the challenge. Perhaps I'm overthinking things, but wondering what alternative routes might be available. The one proposed by @Yarro-Moto has to be the frontrunner, but I would like to visit The Eagle's Nest, if time allows. I'm 64 this May, had a bike since I was 17 so relatively experienced - if you would like to take a look at YouTube for the 'Applecross Pass' in Scotland, these hairpins havent presented a problem, though I'm aware Stelvio has quite a few more of them! I acknowledge your comments about the number of bikes likely to be on the passes at that time of year, unfortunately though thats the only time I have available off work & conscious I'm not getting any younger, so I'll have to go with the flow! regards Carl What you are most likely not prepared to, is reckless driving (mostly of italian riders^^) and lack of being able to ride those roads by 90% of the rest of traffic. Be preepared to not having fun... If you want to go, go early or late in the day. I understand your desire, but don´t do it in high season. Just my 2 cents.^^

@Tony-13 said in IRAN planning problems: tried it on my Web browser, Firefox and all seemed to work OK. Weypoints in sensible places and route line followed the road. But only when using OSM, which aligns with Google satelite. HERE and Tom Tom looked useless. The HERE route does go through the airport, but not on the line shown in your screen shot so considering that I have to create tracks that will have to run on the garmin XT.... what should I do? how should I set up myroute? thank you for your help

There are some lovely bits of France with some really nice roads but, for me, you need to get close to the Pyrenees or, better still, the Alps, to get the really stunning scenery that's around virtually every corner, and the breath-taking roads that can be ridden fast, slow or anywhere in between, and still be hugely enjoyable. Having spend many trips exploring bits of France north of Paris, I came to the conclusion that, if you're into WW1 and WW2 history then it's a great place to go but if you want breath-taking scenery then get on the autoroute for a day and get to the Alps. From there ride the Route des Grandes Alpes and the route Napoleon. Visit the Gorge du Verdon and the Combe Laval balcony road.

@Captain-Haddock In your first response to the original poster, you suggest using the Compare tool, not sure why you would suggest this rather than just confirming that they are planning on the TomTom planning map. If the TT map is used, whatever route is drawn and calculated in the route planner will be navigated by the TomTom device, no need to Compare with HERE or OSM. And then in your reply to @Marinus-van-Deudekom you talk about if the original poster does not have a Gold subscription they should use the Compare tool, hence my reply to you!

@Con-Hennekens Thank you both. I'll give that a try. Shame that I will lose waypoints as I would have loved to be able to keep notes, but I can live with that.

The Old Gits have stayed at both these places: http://www.hotelcortinadampezzo.com/en/ https://www.ladymariahotel.com/en/ Both were good and offered great locations to explore the local routes. I look forward to goimg back to both. I have routes for the local ares around both hotels if you wanted them for reference.

@Hans-van-de-Ven-MR-MRA Maybe I have to be more clear, these are passes that can be driven with a motor vehicle. And to be honest, it makes the system slow to load all the mountain passes that exist in the world, and I have to zoom all the way in. Also I wanted the height of the pass in the POI. It was also a nice exercise to dust off my Excel to GPX POI converter.
