Uploading routes to TomTom
-
Hello, new to using MRA and have planned a few routes which I have sent over to my TomTom rider 550. I have noticed that when the route is calculated on the TomTom the mileage more or less stays the same, however the duration on some of the routes have increased by a massive 2hours! Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey! Welcome to MyRoute-app (MRA), great to hear you’re already planning routes and syncing them with your TomTom Rider 550.
What you’re describing — similar mileage but a much longer duration on the TomTom compared to MRA — is actually pretty common and can be due to a few reasons:
TomTom’s Routing Preferences:
TomTom devices often recalculate routes using their own algorithms and settings, which include speed limits, road types, and traffic conditions. Even if the distance is similar, if TomTom “thinks” some roads will take longer (due to lower speed limits, traffic, or road classes), the estimated duration can increase significantly.Speed Profile Differences:
MRA might use an average speed or estimated speed profile that differs from TomTom’s. For example, MRA may estimate your trip speed based on typical motorcycle speeds, while TomTom uses its own speed limits and historical traffic data, which can add time.Traffic and Road Conditions:
The TomTom Rider 550 has live traffic information and road hazard alerts. If the device detects slow traffic flows, accidents, roadworks, or other delays along your route, it can estimate a longer travel time. This can explain why the estimated time on the TomTom sometimes increases significantly. How long are your routes? The longer they are, the bigger the difference can be.
