it appears there is somethign wrong with the new forum setup. I can still enter comments although I am banned for life from this forum

The forum gets a clean new look and feel. Banned users might as well get a second chance
Considering the fact you noticed it immediately, shows you might still want to contribute. Don't make us regret this - otherwise a change is made rather quickly.
