GPS Accuracy
-
Just using Navigation APP for first time on an EU tour. Have used the planner a lot but with Garmin XT. On the Navigation APP, the GPS is often inaccurate, and it thinks I am on a nearby road. Of course it then diligently tries to re-calculate from the road it thinks it on. Not a big deal, but interested to know if anyone else has had GPS accuracy issues.
Using in car on APP. iPhone XR for reference. Thanks in advance

@Tim-Curry Make sure your phone has a good view to the sky. The best place should be on top of the dashboard. That will increased the GPS precision.

This good be two things
Your GPS accuracy is indeed not the best.
2.
The map does not correspond good enough with the real GPS coordinates. When you use the comparison feature. You will that line of the different maps are not on the same location. This means that the road on the different maps not has the same GPS location.

The GPS accuracy is dependent on your phone. All phone GPSs are not the same - some good, some not so good.

Ah ok. So maybe because I was used to transferring files to Garmin before, I planned them on HERE maps but am now using navigate in the car. I wonder what the best default MAP should be on MRA when Navigate is the intended gps to use?

Depends on the navigation you use.
Somehow i don't trust the Openstreetmap as default. Don't ask me why, just a feeling
I have TomTom map as default just because TomTom is my default navigation.
A route made on TomTom did also work without problem in MRA Next (Here map). -
The app uses HERE so you're going to get the best navigation results on the app if you plan using HERE a well.
If you use other devices, be sure to plan using their base router, i.e. TomTom or Garmin (= HERE).
And if you're trying to satisfy a whole group of disparate users, then definitely buy the Gold subscription and use the Toolkit -> 'Compare route with' function in the Route Lab. You'll be amazed/surprised/horrified at the differences, but adding extra waypoints can pull them all in to match.
Lastly, on the GPS front, calibrate your phone. A Google search will tell you how.
